This is absolutely brilliant news , the balls and the flight for the chips was the dumbest decision by 2k in all of golfing history and now they've actually listened, big clap for 2k all is forgiven unfortunately for 2k they now gotta put up with the cheesy chippers moaning that they've ruined the game , I'm loving it

Wish they could change the default ball slightly. Spoilt myself using a low level friction ball . Not meaning by my scores but game just felt better.
Only used 2 sleeves of them but roll just seemed easier on the eye. More realistic.
All for everyone using default though and I've played 95 % of my rounds with one.

I've never used a consumable ball so no change for me. It is fun to watch people lose their minds about it!! Maybe adjust green speeds a bit so that they aren't like table tops at times.

That's good and all but why couldn't they make a patch that gets rid of the stupid differences in roll out on the greens between the balls. That is/was the unrealistic and unfair part of it.

Definitely in the minority but I'm probably not going to play Tour rounds much anymore with consumable balls locked. I play a green level Redline ball as it provides a realistic level of spin/roll IMO compared to the default ball and even with that I still qualified for CC-K.

I'm guessing now you'll find the green speeds on CC will be set at a speed that is comfortable with the default balls. This must make things much easier for the schedulers who set the conditions, they no longer have to consider how the greens will roll across a number of different speeds and can set appropriate speeds for each round.

I also love that they've apparently restricted chipping from bunkers. Good luck all those chippers out there who haven't bothered to learn the splash and cheese the chip π€£ The splash shot reminds me of the old pitch shot in the last game, finicky at best. I personally don't mind the consumebale ball removal but it just means they are totally redundant in the game now. We should be able to tweak our golfers and clubs more then if TGC insists on playing with super hard fairways and ice rink greens.

I agree but the default balls will possibly restrict them setting very fast greens. I played with one around 177 and it was ridiculous. 155 I've played loads with them and you just have to be careful, no issue, but game felt crackers on 177.

Great news on the ball restriction!
In unrelated news, may be time for me to do a few bunker lessons...

I do have to commend 2k/HB on this. Who knows the numbers, but I am sure they were making a decent chunk of change on people buying VC with real money. And I bet a lot of that money was coming from people who needed balls quickly because they had to play in a society or TGC qualifier, etc. Obviously it's not going to break their bank, but in this case, they chose user enjoyment over their bottom line.

What??? I like both of these patches but now I have to learn the default ball. Iβve been using the upgraded balls because I thought there was no way to compete without them. I think itβs for the best and evens the playing field better though.
