If your Legendary fittings give you a lie range of 75%-80% in the rough while my lie range is 60%-80% then you've changed the conditions of the course and we're not on a level playing field. The rough is considerably less penal for you. Is that really how that works ?
I always assumed the actual lie was fixed, and that the 'range' meant I had some guesswork to do in swing strength & club selection.
Is it 60 or 80 or somewhere in between ? 20 possible points.
Narrowing that range simply makes my knowledge better, not the lie itself. Instead of a 20% range, now I only have a 5 point window, probably the same club covers it. Guessing wrong will be far less from my target.
But, I could have misunderstood what the 'Lie range' did ... I'll re-read this one.
AFAIK, This is correct. Lie Range is just the range of % that your ball could travel in relation to its max distance. The actual % should be the same for everyone if they landed in the same spot.

Respawn talks about lie range here:
He says, "From what I've seen, I believe it moves the scale up." Meaning, if you have a better Lie Range attribute, you have a higher percentage shown. Potentially, with a low Lie Range attribute, you could be shown a heavy rough lie of 60-85%. With a higher attribute, you might be shown a 79-88%, or something like that.

You're correct. Lie variety fitting is just more informations for you. I played with it very low for one round. I saw 54-80% once and decided only a real gamblers could play like that.

I think my Lie Range is pretty stacked, cause I am usually in a range of 3%, so I guess I can get more power out of it too. But, it's not like it helps me. I am still a complete mess out of the heavy rough.

You could cut it a bit, you won't feel the difference very much and will have more points to spend elsewhere. Around 78, it pretty much gives the same lie than 2K21. 75-86.... you loft a bit and it will reduce to something like 78-83. That's enough. Only the LW should be stacked alot since this club will do most of the short game from the rough

I’m the 5ft 9 bloke with his shoulder pads and shirt pulled over his head 🤣 The only shots I landed were at the start, he thought we were going to skate centre ice but I just dropped the gloves and landed a few before he realised then he got hold of me… at that point I just tucked my nose against my arm so he couldn’t break it! Took them all on my forehead! Managed to stay on my feet and stupidly gave the crowd a clap skating off as it was my last game, he thought I was celebrating and saw red, tried to come after me in the locker room but one of my teammates smashed him through the fire escape and we had an off ice bench clearance. Utter carnage but an interesting way to sign off! You, sir, have won the TGC forums for the month. This is pure gold. That dude looks like a Russian assassin. But, as a photographer myself, I hope you took the photographer out to dinner, because they worked some magic in making it look like you actually had the upper hand. The confused and shocked look on his face and the angle of the punch (although, it would have looked REALLY bad ass if your fist was fully clenched😂), is absolutely brilliant. Bravo paddyjk19, bravo! Russian assassin / massive geordie bloke (someone from Newcastle) same thing right?! Much like landing a punch or clinging on for dear life could be confused 🤣

As in, I’m all for legendary fittings etc, just not skills that turn off / on if you hit 2x fairway etc If your Legendary fittings give you a lie range of 75%-80% in the rough while my lie range is 60%-80% then you've changed the conditions of the course and we're not on a level playing field. The rough is considerably less penal for you. If someone with fittings gets a lie range of 75%-80% and someone without gets 60%-80%, the actual lie penalty might be 77%. This still falls within the window of 60%-80% and also in the window of 75%-80%. Having the fittings helps you narrow this window down so you can make a better judgement. Not that both players get a different lie penalty.

The rough is considerably less penal for you. That's not what the Lie Range attribute does. The Lie Range attribute helps narrow the Range you see. So if the actual lie percentage is 68%, one player with a low Lie Range attribute might see "60%-80%" while a player with a high Lie Range attribute might see "63%-73%". EDIT: I see now that we're piling on. Sorry about that.

Having the fittings helps you narrow this window down so you can make a better judgement. Not that both players get a different lie penalty. And the rough is less penal for them because they know with a (sometimes much) greater degree of certainty, how far the ball is going to travel.

Some people are just upset because they lost their magic balls.. I lost mine once but the wife insisted.. No more kids she said. So that was it. If i knew they slowed me down and made me longer i would have kept them. Why do you always find out good stuff too late.

One thing nobody seems to account for in discussing the balls' numbers is that (if properly modeled) really long putts have a 'skid' portion at impact before they start 'rolling' end over end (watch a few youtube vids). My guess is that a lower roll number ACCENTUATES that effect on longest putts, thus dropping 168 to 147. But on short putts, the skid is much less pronounced, so a lower roll number makes less difference, so they don't really feel different with 'magic' balls.
I'm a bowler, so I know a little something about how cover & core composition might affect friction during that phase of a rolling ball.
At least I finally earned another sleeve of the consumables to test.
I don't mind following the rules, but I DO like to know whether the rulemakers actually understand what they're banning. It's become problematic in all other areas of life these days, why not here ?

Not much skid on a 1 foot downhill 20 footer that you draw back the putter head 2 inches though. Maybe some balls have better brakes than others 🤔 It is not like everyone is banning them, plenty of societies out there that will use them. It's great to just have options in a golf game and the more the better,I would also love the option to lock out skills for my society.

I'm glad they removed the consumable balls so all the pay to win people on plat get dropped back down to CC where they belong!

I'm glad they removed the consumable balls so all the pay to win people on plat get dropped back down to CC where they belong! Of the 43 Plat players who played this week, 21 of them are already ranked in the top 50 in WGR, and 28 of them are in the top 100.
I'm gonna take a wild stab that they know how to play the game really well, and the consumable golf balls aren't making them play 3 tours higher than where they "belong".
