There are a lot of posts talking about the usual swing tempo problems, which we are having since last game or two and which are always solved by re-calibrating and practicing until your fingers bleed.
But what I am finding much more different at 2k23 is how difficult it is to shoot the ball perfectly straight. The slightest deviation from the thin white line in the middle of the swing circle will deviate the ball to the left or to the right a lot, almost regardless of how perfect or not was tempo. Did that perfect swing line got thiner or more sensible to deviations?
It feels to me as if a one degree deviation on the swing line will cause the ball to be launched 10 degrees to that side, straight. I am playing PS5, but was playing it at the end of 2k21 too and did not have this horrible lateral spread of my shots.

Swing line (swing path) is certainly tougher in 2K23, and separately also getting exactly perfect tempo is tougher, but they grey near miss is a bit more forgiving. I feel that if you are having an outsized number of swings being affected by missing the swing path line, then the Swing Path stat might be a focus for you.
The % of your swing (transition is also quite a bit more sensitive) is also tougher to nail exactly 100%.
Overall the swing is certainly tougher
I like the changes. It takes out the robotic math only approach for all but the top few % of players.

Completely agree, the new mechanic is excellent, the fact there’s a precedence on both swing line and tempo means hitting dead straight shots is rare. The fact you can use archetypes and fittings to address your weaknesses is also brilliant.
My tempo isn’t great and my swing path is also a bit ropey so I’ve maxed out my putting path so I don’t yip the short ones.
I’ve also gone heavy on tempo for irons and wedges as I want to be able to hit them close but I’m less concerned with driver as it’s more realistic spraying that about a bit more but being 300 yards

This swing is all over the place. I've been concentrating on having the same tempo in my swing, and I'm getting everything from very slow to very fast. There's just no consistency at all, and my swing speed isn't that different on each swing.

What platform?
How old is controller?
Do you pause at all at the top?
Are you keeping similar tempo on both backswing and downswing? Fluid and a bit quicker than 2k21

Only a tiny fraction of the community has complained and it's usually the balls. I agree with others here that the game is great and feels enjoyable, there are no issues with swing randomness. Even XBox players are okay this time around.
Good you came here, I learn a lot when I'm here but give them more info about your setup, sounds like you haven't employed any fittings or player skills cause you're speaking generally about all swings, all shot types, all clubs. I had a ton of trouble putting straight cause I had a poor putter rating but then I added fittings and skills and now I putt just like last year.

What value stats are your timing & swing plane? I have my swing plane rated at 86 with a couple of fittings fitted & still seem to have a shaky line towards the bottom of the swing plane.

The fittings don't change the swing line itself. They just increase the white (and grey?) so the game is more tolerant of your shaky line.

The fittings don’t straighten your line, they widen the white area for your perfect swing plane and extend the grey miss area for your swing line

Yes, I get that, I was just wondering what values everyone has for swing plane & timing & the higher the value does it really widen the white line or is it only a slight increase.
I am really struggling with a straight swing path, even on rhythm archetype, think i need to change my grip from using thumb on left stick.

Try right stick with the pinch method (index and thumb). Also i tend to feel like im aiming for 7 o clock on the pull back and 1 o clock when i slam it forward

I have tried many different gripping techniques, including where I put my thumb on the stick. I found one I like (I use just my right thumb on the right stick, but I hold the controller in an exact way) so sticking with it. Lots of practice and trial and error to get there (and still far from perfect). I also feel like I am pulling 7 to 1.

Can't tell which clubs you're talking about. You, me and everyone have personalized ratings for each set of clubs, driver, woods, irons, wedges, plus then we have player skill meters partially filled - it's a lot to deal with - probably too much. So for example, with putting I was on like 64 and going up to 72 was good enough for me. My swing line is only occasionally straight.
I decided last weekend to take a solid 2 or 3 hours and learn all this stuff and once you know how these complicated systems work, things will smooth out. So for me, I have more trouble with timing than swing plane. But I think my swing plane for each is Driver = 66, Woods = 60 (don't use them too much - maybe twice a round), Irons - I'm up to 84 - I always struggled with irons timing and swing plane most. Wedges I think I have 78 currently and putter is 70. That's after the fittings - my clubs aren't totally fitted yet.
I do think others' suggestions are gong to help concerning how you hold the controller. I heard some crazy methods over the last couple of years. I putt really well normally in this game and last and I keep my arms resting on my legs and the controller resting on my legs to keep it as steady as possible.
My legs are anchoring both my arms to make the swing and the controller itself so maybe I get less squiggly lines and more straight lines. Kind of like the illegal anchoring of the putter Adam Scott tries to get away with. LOL All other swings, I hold the controller regularly. There's so much stuff to attend to but I think once we settle on final fittings etc, it will be easier.

Oh and one more thing - there are plenty of methods and many here have great suggestions - but I'll add that if you're struggling with all your clubs, then think about it this way. You're using driver 14 times a round and you're using putter 25-30 times a round. That's more than half of the shots you'll take.
Maybe practice and get your ratings up for driver and putter first, and then deal with the rest. That way, you're safely in the fairway and when you do hit it close, you can capitalize on birdie chances with the putter. It's a start at least.

I used sculpter as a base and have 95+ with swing path and timing late 80’s. The swing area does widen as I switched to power archetype and it’s narrower.
The biggest thing about this game is that they’ve made it harder to hit white, both path and tempo. Perfect is rare, grey is common but not penal.
My swing is squiggly and often in grey slightly for tempo and path but the ball still goes near where I’m aiming although not perfect, I just gave up on trying to be dead straight and just started managing my misses.
Golf isn’t a game of perfect which is why this new mechanic is fantastic
