Yup! I had that one. The basketball games of that generation were fun too. Jordan vs Bird dunk contests were brutal in my house. Oh yeah. I loved NBA Jam. I did hear of Jordan vs Bird but don't think I played it

Totally disregarding the rules and posting games and series that were influential, and/or took up large amounts of my free time. No order, other than maybe chronological as I think of them.
Sonic - Sonic 2 - The music still stays in my head and will never go away.
Links 386 - Had this in Mac, and I remember waiting like 2 weeks for it to be delivered. It was absolute torture. Once I got it, I must have played 1,000 rounds at Harbour Town.
Joe Montana Sports Talk Football - The commentary was hilarious. The best was trying to predict when the offense would run a pitch play, time up the snap with the OLB, and intercept the pitch. The ensuing commentary, "The... quarterback.... hands off.. to.... the linebacker.... and.... UH OH!.... I don't believe it!" Just fantastic.
Tony LaRussa Baseball - Had the little stat cards that came int eh box with the game. Totally unhelpful but I loved it.
NHL Series (NHL 96) - While 94 may be the most influential, something about 96 made it possible to play huge quantities of games in a short amount of time. This resulted in several all nighters where a full season was played. Totally ridiculous.
NBA - Live 95-97 - Absolutely played the life out of these. Occasionally I conducted my own fantasy drafts, by hand, with paper and pencil. What was wrong with me?
NBA - 2K2 - Crushed this my freshman year of college. Of all people, Shawn Merion was my #1 scorer.
GTA (III) - All of these games got a ton of play, and I really liked San Andreas and IV a lot, but III was the groundbreaker. I still remember when it came out my freshman year of college. Any given night you would hear sirens coming from multiple rooms at one time, this game was huge. It was so easy just to kill 2-3 hours not even playing any missions or doing anything other than causing chaos. The worst was when you needed to go to bed... "let me just shoot this rocket launcher real quick". The ensuing police chase would last an hour.
Tiger Woods (12) - TW was good fun. It was more multiplayer for me in college, and then later became more about the courses. Getting Augusta in 12 was like a gift from heaven.
NCAA Football (9 and 14) - Really, pick any year. 09 and 14 got the most run for the longest time from me. All of my college years were great playing with Michigan, though.
Madden 2001 - This is the year it maxed out for me. I happened to randomly choose the Titans to play with (almost never played with the Lions), and I actually played every game that season. I knew the roster well by the end of the season, and followed the Titans through their run to the Super Bowl. After this version, it kept going downhill for me to the point where I barely played it anymore.
Red Dead Redemption - I just loved the setting so much, and the music. I played it almost to the finish once, and then 2 years later played the whole thing again to the finish. I almost never do that. Beat it the first time or done.
I could go on, but I'll stop for now.

I tell you what, all these guys that want a scary game? Go get Thief 3 and play the Shalebridge cradle level in the dark with your headphones on. yeah... pants pooping... The new Thief was...not the same and made me a little sad. I still need to beat that game actually.

Hey! Vampire the Masquerade! That's one to bust out and resinstall man... Also, that flight sim on the top of the box, that's the FIRST game I bought when I built my first 486 back in the day. Bought a nice flight stick too and played with a buddy. I was working for CompUSA at the time and had been GIVEN like 3 brand new processors and a couple motherboards by the Intel rep. Was a pretty sweet gig.

I spent hours on end in that game creating supply chain lines and so forth, a lot of fun.

No particular order 1. Earl Weaver baseball / Tony LaRussa Baseball ( 2 different games but equal in my eyes) 2. Legend of Zelda ( played this with my daughter and son years ago ) 3. MLB The Show 4. NCAA football 5. The Golf Club...my only foray into online gaming ...cannot get enough of this game ( my real life golfing buddies just look at me when I explain the rush of a tournament and the anguish of a needed missed putt )

I need to throw in an honorable mention ........... MAG from the PS3. I totally enjoyed this game. It was so much fun as the game broke into the 256 player online battle. Too bad it never really caught on like it should have.

I broke a chair from getting such a huge fright one night.. The use of sound in that game put a person on edge that no gruesome graphics ever could and yeah... also still need to beat the new thief.. it was so disappointing
