1) Super Mario Kart - SNES
2) Fifa Soccer 94 (Sega Megadrive version) - I think it was this version that me & my mate used to play co-op all summer long. We would create our own World Cup tournament, create leagues. Man it was Fun. It might not be a great game by any other standard but for 12 months of my life it was my life
3) Super Mario Bros - NES
4) Dark Cloud - PS2
5) Daley Thompson's Decathlon - ZX Spectrum - I cannot begin to explain to those of you that have never played this game how easy it was to break the Z & X buttons on your keyboard trying to mash them as fast as possible with your brother trying to break the 100m record - what fun

HA! I'm good at the games that take fast button presses. My wife calls it my "seizure finger" when I have to do that in a game. the kids love it when they are playing Mario party or something. I never lose those games.

I am by no stretch a hardcore gamer, I mostly stick to sports games... My criteria is mostly replayablilty/ do I still want to play it 6 months after release which is an issue for me
No particular order
Skyrim FIFA TGC (PGA tour would have held this spot, still going to get it but real life, non cheating competition makes TGC better) The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time SSX (3 and remake) / Champions: Return to Arms (Both of these consumed many months when I was 10 years old or so)
I know some of these games arent classic but they killed time and were fun as hell.
Also, as a younger member of the forums, I have to say that Pokemon would also make this list but I kept it to consoles. Those games were/are so fun. I wish there would be an adult difficulty that required a lot more thinking and strategy, I would buy that so fast.
EDIT: I didnt even know some of these consoles you guys are naming existed lol

I still buy every new pokemon game. I don't care if it was for kids. It's fun. Same with Animal Crossing. Yep...I'm that guy. Sorry world. You'll get over it.

Maybe not the best games ever but they consumed a large chunk of my time
1. Intellivision baseball 2. R.B.I. Baseball series 3. Tecmo/SuperTecmo & all the maddens. Still have every copy 4. Sega genis nhl hockey 5. GTA San Andreas
So many others over 35 years. The evolution of these games has been amazing, can't wait to see the next 20 years.

top 5, no order
1. Super Mario 3 - I still say to this day that this game was ahead of it's time
2. Uncharted 2 - My favorite game in maybe my favorite franchise
3. Bioshock - Superb atmosphere, great story, fun gameplay
4. God of War - gaming at it's most violent
5. Batman Arkham Asylum - IMO the best superhero game ever made. I like the first one better than the open world ones, although they are also fun
So many others like Red Dead Redemption and GTA that I wanted to include but couldn't

Does anybody remember the Madden and NHL combo cartridge you got for the MegaDrive (Genesis for others)? That consumed many of the days of my childhood. Loved the hockey and still to this day i cannot understand NFL games.

Yup! I had that one. The basketball games of that generation were fun too. Jordan vs Bird dunk contests were brutal in my house.

I had an intellivision back in the day, fun system. Although I don't have all the copies, I've played every Madden ever released also. I still remember grabbing the very first one off the shelf as the clerk was stocking it back in 1988/89. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you also had Earl Weaver Baseball. EWB was the prototype for all the sports games that came after it. Such a great game at that time. I need to add that to my list as 5a

I like fantasy and rpg's more than anything. Elder scrolls series (Morrowind/oblivion/Skyrim) I think i spent more time on oblivion. But skyrim was Phenomenal on pc due to the amount of mods that came out. Mass effect series (Mass effect 2 was my favourite out of the three) Witcher series (so far witcher 2 down to the mature and adult way they handle the story/lore/and gameplay..)But that will probably change next week when i start playing witcher 3 Lotro (lord of the rings online)Not many mmos grabbed me the way this one did, being a big tolkien fan.Played this for a number of years and it's still going. They still havn't reached Mordor Links 2004(original xbox) or The Golf Club hard one to choose between these so i'm not going to. But out of those its probably lotro as being my favourite, just down to the amount of time and years spent playing it,also the amount of online friends i made paying the game and to this day still playing games with a few of those.

I think my first "Wow holy sh%$" moment was 1995 when i first loaded up Tekken for the original playstation i couldn't believe how good it looked back then.Todays gamers just don't get it, all they do is b%& and moan about graphics and how it looks.I was watching a live stream last night of the witcher 3 from the devs that made the game and i was embarrassed for the poor guys.Just the sheer amount of flack they where getting off of so called gamers was ridiculous.

LOTRO...I had more fun in beta for that game. I know the game is usually a little rough in beta but the people playing it are generally just a better group of folks. They help more, are more willing to try new things... It's just more fun usually.
I tried it after retail for a little while but I couldn't get into it. They keep sending me emails to "come back!" but I just don't have the time any more.

I wouldn't get into the MMO but a good console version with bigger and better options? Yeah I'd dig into that. I loved the aspect of capturing and training the monsters in Ni No Kuni a lot too. That's another game that is high on my list but probably not quite top ten.
