Added the other issues to the bug report. Keep posting them in here (particularly the mouse/keyboard ones, as I won't discover those myself) and I'll forward them along. You design with a controller? Wow. Not sure how anyone can do it. That said, I don’t really play any controller games outside of PGA2k so maybe I just lack the skills.

There's an Oak tree that looks like a dead tree in the tree select menus, but appears as a full oak with leaves when placing it. Noticed it when porting a course from 2K21 to 2K23, and it 2K21 it was a dead tree. In 2K23 it was the full one.

Yep, I'm exactly the reverse, couldn't imagine doing it with mouse and keyboard. I had a PS2 growing up, so all comes from that. sroel908 - have already sent them that, but I'll flag again if they miss it next time.

I also noticed a "helpful" bug...when taking the screenshot before publish (at least on PS4), take the screenshot, but don't confirm it to publish the course yet. Press circle to go back, and now the "take a screenshot" view no longer has the yellow lines running vertically. This allows you to take pretty clean screenshots with no intrusive aids or junk cluttering the screen. I really hope they don't fix that...haha

b101 Q rjwils30 I don't think you can report these as bugs, they just simply removed 2k21 shortcuts and tried to revamp/move the shortcuts into 2k23 for a "easier workflow?", that only really complicated things. My BIGGEST issue right now, is that I can not hover over a spline and select it. As a matter of fact, the spline doesn't even show up when I hover over it, it just tells me on the left side panel that "splint point" is selected and then I'm unable to left click on it to select and move. To do this - I have to hover over a spline point I can't even see, I then have to hit the "enter" key and it then this brings me to the next left panel page to select what I want to do with the spline point (move, edit, etc) then I have to hit "enter" again to actually do something with the spline. And if that's not enough steps, if I bump my mouse in this process, and move away off the splint point......I have to start all over! In 2k21 - Hover over spline, click, move it.I am going to have to move back over to 2K21 for the designer portion, because the workflow is so much faster. But I made a huge mistake, I moved my current WIP over to 2k23 and didn't like the workflow and tried to move it back to 2k21 and that didn't work so well, it's not backwards compatible......so I will have to finish that course in 2k23. problem is that in 2k23 I can't rotate and multi plant at the same time, it won't allow us to do that either. Again, not complaining, it's just frustrating. When rotating with A/D, to plant, instead of using your mouse click, use the space bar

Really. Gosh, really shows you where there priorities are. Seem to be pandering most to the non golfer crowd with a bunch of gimmicks and superficial junk. Aside from the fence tool and trees which look good up close (not far) this version feels like a bit of downgrade (bunker lips) and I’m really losing the desire to design right now. Yep, that's how lots of us are feeling. I will pass that along - they're aware that many of the top designers are underwhelmed and considering walking away, but the more names they hear that about, the better.
i probably dont matter to the devs, but for what it's worth you can add me to the list of folks that are highly underwhelmed and disheartened by the new designer.
i bought the game to port NGLA, but the 2k23 version of the file clocked in at 131% object meter (was 99% in 2k21). i spam-deleted a bunch of stuff just to get to 99% and i just dont see how it would be possible to port NGLA into 2k23 at a level of quality anywhere close to the 2k21 version.
add in everything else listed in this thread--especially the keyboard and mouse issues--and i've decided i'll be requesting a refund.
if/when these issues are addressed, i'll consider buying it again and doing the NGLA port. but for now, consider me done.

It's been stated, but raising/lowering the terrain is very buggy. The previous move gets undone sometimes, and there's huge jumps in how much it changes elevation.
The connection of measure tools seems to disappear sometimes too.
Area Select tool is also pretty buggy. A/D to resize doesn't always work and it selects items far away from where I am trying to select.
Was going to work on upgrading courses before porting, but just going to take a break from the designer until they address these.
I'll also third or fourth the lack of keyboard shortcuts making the workflow impossibly slow. Haven't even gotten to the point where I'm planting as I work for about 5 minutes and get so annoyed I just quit.

When rotating with A/D, to plant, instead of using your mouse click, use the space bar Yea, you can move the mouse around whilst smashing the space bar to spam plant, before the game catches up. If you can keep a smooth rhythm on the space bar you can get around 50 grasses down.

If you can keep a smooth rhythm on the space bar you can get around 50 grasses down. I use an auto rotate script running so I can spam plant using controller which is very easy to do! Like Beamtown mentioned, LiDAR transfer has been a huge issue and I’ve noticed multi or spline planted objects don’t help much with the object meter. I’ve taken a course from 120% to 95% by replacing all multi plant / spline grasses / plants with single planted objects. Just took bloody ages!

Yes, I learnt about AutoHotKey about 3 months ago, works a treat. As well as the ability to assign other keys to auto scale up and down as well as rotate.

the frustrating part with grasses is that single-planting is efficient with the object meter but not with the file size meter. multi-planting or spline planting is inefficient with the object meter, but very efficient with the file size. learned this the hard way after laying down 75% of the grass at NGLA as single-planted and then noticing my file size was at 98%.
so i ended up having to do a mix of spline planting and single planting to balance the load between object meter and file size. worked in 2k21, but the 31% overage in object meter with 2k23 means i'm completely screwed. i can't just remove the splines and do single planting because i'd run into file size problems since there's already a ton of single-planted grass.
then there's the other weird stuff like fence posts taking up very little object meter, but hazard posts and other things in the marker category take up huge amounts of object meter (relatively speaking). doubly strange since the fence posts have collision physics with the ball and markers do not. if anything, stuff that has collision physics should take up more object meter than things that do not.

Two things of relatively low importance that I've just noticed:
Firstly, when placing a spline, after "too many" spline points get added (not sure how many), each successive click removes a spline point in order from the first one placed. This is only visual, doesn't seem to affect how the surface is laid down at all or anything really.
Secondly, I've just gone to playtest a hole and when coming back to the designer, my measurement lines are gone. The points are still there, but the yellow lines connecting them have disappeared.

I'm still compiling my list of bugs/issues using designer for PS4 and will post before end of this coming week. In short, there are issues with using the designer on the PS4 platform, some the same as for PC. More subjectively, how a course renders when completed is also a concern. (e.g. lighting effects on objects and textures, water reflection, draw distances, etc.)
I have made a couple of posts already with some observations: Will hang off buying the PC version of 2K23 on Steam for a while. Fingers crossed...

I am experiencing a lot of crashing, the dreaded "Blue Screen of Oh Sh** I Didn't Save My Work!"....PS4.
Also, I was playing with the fences this morning, and when I went to "change fence style" it wouldn't change it to the fence I selected. It seemed to be changing it to 2 styles in front, so I tested a few more times, but there was no rhyme or reason to the fence it selected...and then I got another Blue Screen crash.

Am i missing something, or can you no longer play “my unpublished Course” in the game. This was the best way to play test pre published courses in 2k21
