www.reddit.com/r/PGA_Tour_2K/comments/xvmkrz/exclusive_pga_tour_2k23_interview_with_developer/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=shareA very good read here and some great positives. I like that they have worked on physics, softer conditions mean ball snags up in the heavy rough more, more chance of plugged lies in bunkers etc. Seems a really big difference between soft and firm conditions this game. Everything said here is improving the simulation part of the game, white perfect on higher difficulties is tougher to hit and grey is a good shot and not so penal. It seems they wanted to make the game more realistic so I just can't understand why the arcade skill system was introduced. Also 3 click or analog can be locked in societies and private matches. Looking forward more to the game after reading this article.

With not long to go till the new game, there still seems to be no news on the designer.has it been up graded or not?..be a shame if 2k has put all its efforts into just career mode and playing as pros, and not touched the thing that makes this game and keeps it alive for so long.

Watching ReSpawnSports youtube video on the swing changes between '21 and '23 is interesting. Firstly, the club path looks a lot better in 23. in '21 (on the left) it starts way outside. Then the divot starts before the club makes contact with the ball/ground. Followed by the club passing the ball before it moves At normal speed it's difficult to see, but surely the programmers would have lined up their code to get it in the right order. If you strike the ground 2 inches behind the ball (like these shots), the ball isn't going far at all.

Read that article above, a whole Q&A on it! Splinable walls and fences that follow slopes is probably the biggest one, you can also adjust the height of the whole spline once laid and move the whole spline as a unit. That’s massive. You can also copy and paste splines of all kinds and can also move all splined areas as a unit, again very helpful. There’s new objects too but little detail on what yet

Just not a fan of the position at the top. If they just had the 2k21 position at the top the new animation would be perfect

Not a single question or reference to why only PC players were allowed to demo the game and no console players, or if they addressed the swing tempo/poling points issue on Xbox. Just from a marketing point of view, you would think they would want to showcase the game on consoles, especially Xbox. Not surprising, as many interviewers seem more interested in keeping access to devs by not asking hard questions or putting them on the spot, but disappointing nonetheless. I'll be looking forward to reading Xbox reviews upon return from vacation. Fingers crossed that it's a vast improvement over the last game and the arcade skills and fittings aren't to over-powered (I have my doubts).

I have a feeling that the polling issue is not fixed and that the gameplay updates of smaller perfect window and larger forgiveness grey zone will hide this. Not saying I don't like the change as I do actually like it and think it's a good idea that an absolute perfect shot is incredibly hard to hit.

Here's another video on physics in PGA2K23 from Respawn:
The most interesting thing to me here is how quickly 3- and 4-irons stick on the green.

The ball physics are definitely questionable from a simulation perspective but the nextmakers have said from the beginning that it’s more arcade than 2021 so just a case of seeing how low you can go……..#Backspin to win.

Maybe some of the shaping and lofting goes too far but some of the flight and bounce physics are greatly improved, I only use a minimum of loft and shaping so won't effect my game. I agree there are arcade elements like skills that I probably won't use anyway. I don't like the leveling up your golfer, would rather just pick a archetype and stick with it. But talking about arcade is it possible to get more arcade that 2K21's splash from heavy rough and short chipping. The scrambling in 2K23 looks massively improved as does rollout on greens.

It’s impossible to say the scrambling is more challenging until we see it with a 1/1 swing. At the moment the lag is making the short game more difficult than it was designed to be.

I don’t know if that would show on the practice facility. I’ve had more backspin on some fully lofted pitches in 2K21 than I saw in his video of 2K23, I think because there were no grids showing we don’t know if the surface he was hitting to was flat or sloping away from the golfer which would affect the amount of backspin shown. You can see there is backspin being generated but let’s see what we get when we play. Another point is the ball sleeves give you different abilities as well not that I’m suggesting Respawn used anything other than standard golf balls.
