Thanks for the reply, totally understand that with poor data you get poor results (or a bag full of work). Loved The Grove and Hesketh layouts. Keep up the great work...I'm a convert to RCRs!

Good to hear but it was why the brand was successful something for everyone hb/2k should give the designer an upgrade so fictional designers can have a new lease of life after 3-4 years of nothing really.Hesketh got in touch during lockdown to design it for them always tough to do a decent job on basic laptops but in the end came out decent enough.
Never say never on a course not sure if your on pc or console but its the great thing with this game if you want to play a course can always design it yourself just need time and patience and a little bit of OCD.Thanks for the kind words.

I'm on PS4 and designed a par 3 9-holer in a Rookie design comp three versions back, but it is hard on console, especially when you lack time, patience and creativity. I hear the 2k23 designer isn't a step forward, but not really messed with it yet.

Where would we be without Chad Golf Lidar........just great to compare the terrain Flag in the same place as well. Is that the 11th at Princes on the original routing?

Not sure if it's an Original green from the course according to the history on the site 17 of the 27 were back in use after the course was used as a bombing range during the 2nd world war,its the 12th of shore-dunes or the 3rd Dunes, the more i look at the pic i am wondering if they extended the right side(left as you look at it) a little more during the recent changes. Need to get the measurement out next time i load it into designer.
Plays great in 2k23 prince's (a little too easy) i know i am VERY biased but i feel links courses play so well in 2k23.

Played it IRL a few weeks back and they had the pin in the bowl on the left of green (right in the pic). Absolute joke ๐ 3 putts and worse all over the show!

The greenies definitely had been out that night before though! We played Shore/Dunes - the 2nd was middle left on top of the tier, 5 was 3 paces past the front pot bunker and 17 was 4 paces on from the center pot halfway down the slope in the middle of the green ๐ I came off shaking afterwards, couldn't look at my putter for few days haha!

That is a tough pin position got 1 out the 4 on it (maybe should have placed another on it), the other 3 positions to the right of it play so much easier.

yeltzman Are you able to get Lidar of St. Patricks Rosapenna, the new course recently built by Tom Doak? It just opened a year or two ago and I have heard nothing but great things about it... I've read that they are currently Lidar mapping the whole coast of Ireland so hopefully many of the fantastic links courses will have free data in a year or two. You have to remember that for a newly opened course the plane would have to have flown after construction to get the correct data so new courses like St Patrick's and Dumbarnie won't have data available for a wee while! Little bits of Ireland do currently have Lidar available but it's tricky to find. I have it for Portstewart and it's one of my (many!) current works in progress.

madfranky mm I see. Some good versions over the years already but would be great to get Lidar for RCD, Lahinch and Ballybunion. Stay tuned I guess. Dumbarnie looks like an intriguing routing with the burn and combination of waste/pot bunkers. Big greens there. yeltzman Portrush not being Lidar is even more impressive if you hand sculpted those fairways. Love hitting punches into the wind and trying to avoid that random kick. Great fun.

It's like i said in the lidar topic yesterday something like Portrush would take 2-3 weeks just to map out the layout before even designing it, where Lidar does it in 10-15 mins now. Of course Still loads of work to do with Lidar it's a shame how the designer works you just can't get it perfect especially round the greens. In the end 90% of players don't read forums and maybe 10-20% don't even know how to search for courses so Lidar or not it's just a few % of the players who really know what there playing.
Another thing as well maybe it's just my cheap laptop since the last update, Designer crashes so often as well does not help its seems to me and only those close to 2k/hb will know this it seems to me 2k23 is no where near as well programmed as 2k21 not sure if staff as left or new one's employed.

Iโm not having any crashes in the designer at least on a high end PC if that helps you narrow down the issue

With my laptop and its only basic the larger the course file the more problems it seems may be a laptop issue and course issue combined.
