fargo I was always a big Ernie fan myself. (All the South African guys actually) Loved his swing and rhythm. And that he finished a round on tv once putting with the leading edge of a wedge cause he somehow broke his putter.

What a swing, and an immensely likeable guy. I'm Australian so I was obviously hoping that one of the Aussies would win (especially Stuart Appleby, who's a fantastic bloke and endured a horrible tragedy only a few years earlier). But if they were going to lose to anyone, I'm glad it was to Ernie. He should have closed it out in regulation anyway. It also maintained the tradition of only great players winning the jug at Muirfield. Since the war: Cotton, Player, Nicklaus, Travino, Watson, Faldo, Faldo, Els, Mickelson. It's quite the list. And yes I agree about the South African players in general, most seem to be a good bunch of blokes.

Good chance i think it will be back there for the 2027 open unless the R&A can sort out Turnberry. Got to say not keen on what there doing to Birkdale for 2026 new finished 5th hole. 241 yards to 327 yards par 4.

The Controversial pin positions from round one of the open at Muirfield in 2013 now in 2k23 1st Lidar version of the course in 2k brand i think. A Couple of xbox series x screenshots from the course in game. MUIRFIELD I love this course. It is very subtle and asks interesting questions. It is like it is just sitting there saying, "Try me." It asks you to plan for the future and if you don't, it can be a death-by-a-thousand-paper-cuts, and not death by water hazards and bold, heroic in your face land features, natural or otherwise. The standout holes to me are: #2 par 4...with everything working towards the stone wall. #6 par 4...with the heroic carry over the bunker complex on the inner left to get to the lower fairway section, and then the green tucked close to the property line. #7 par 3...with its somewhat volcano style green and its candidacy for a nice low punch shot. #8 par 4...with its snaking nature around the 12 individual landmines and the backstop on the back right of the green which can be a bittersweet endeavor. #9 par 4...with its narrow playing angles and its ability to run an approach up from like 50 yards out. #11 par 4...with its blind shot over the ridgeline and the reveal the player would experience, and that tightly routed and tricky green site surrounded by pots, which is just bananas...tough green. #12 par 4...with its devilish bunker complexes and the sculpting & mounding around them. #13 par 3...if you thought 12 was devilish, you should see 13. Wow. You better be able to control you sideways accuracy, or good luck playing from anywhere off the green. Playing from on the green, is also no easy task. #16 par 3...The green is just simply mean and is a very tough scene. #17 par 5...Ya those are some deeeeep bunkers and that punchbowly green site is immensely entertaining. #18 par 4...The bunker right of the green with the grassy mound in the center of it seems a bit out of place compared to the rest of the course IMO and is one of the only things I don't like out here. One of these days I am going to throw on the rain gear, put on my masochist hat and max out the settings like it was 2002 and just have a huge smile on my face the entire time. Everyone who is a golf purist and not a golf tourist, already knows this is an all time banger and thanks for bringing this into the game Dave! Is there an in-game wind direction anyone would recommend that translates to real life? Or does the wind just swirl here?

Only thing there i can help you with if you play along with a course guide or even the Muirfield website it says into the prevailing wind on the 1st so it would be a SOUTH wind in game. Saying that no 3 Holes go in the same direction so it shouldn't make much difference. Again i am not sure if its the server but at times when you design a course you take notice that the wind does not always play right in my view.

Perfect thanks! I've tried east and north so far as I always default to that on the first two rounds, unless the designer specifies otherwise. Then I know not to play the same wind direction twice. Very high, south, will be next haha.

Got to say not keen on what there doing to Birkdale for 2026 new finished 5th hole. 241 yards to 327 yards par 4. Looks incredibly contrived, up by the green. I suppose the previous version was too easy for the pros to bomb to the green. And the original pond was blind from the tee wasn't it? So I do see why some more ponds down the right might be a positive change. Hard to judge before it's all grown in.

I'm hoping to play it one year as I have a friend who is a member of the R and A. Now that they are playing it over the course of a week he should be able to secure a tee time🤞 If you still play 2K21 I did a LiDAR version on that just before 2K23 was released. Pretty sure it was called

^^^^^...is this a trick question Dave or is it trick on me?? Tag Charlie and he will tell ya which course this is. Which course has a piece of wood in the chipping way? My guess is...County Sligo as it just popped into my head for some reason...

That is correct love how it plays on higher level of play in 2k23,they are on the 2nd,3rd,7th and the 14th,very tricky to design in game with the blending and how they play. By the way the building in the distance a WW2 defence bunker, some of the holes across the ridge there really good. Just a shame the club is very private and hard to get info there, The rakes also in a unique way there standing up could not find a way to do them in 2k23 so its just the holders no rakes. 1st,2nd,3rd on the left out 4th and 5th on the right coming back across the ridge.
