I studied a bit of Dumbarnie about a year ago and have all the hole flyovers saved. There's a womens scottish open on youtube I believe which is worth referencing. I thought about doing an RCR but I'm not a good enough designer. I like the use of the stream on the earlier holes, the large segmented greens and the combo of pot/waste bunkers.

I did not even realise the ladies had played at Dumbarnie the 1st year i wonder why they moved to Dundonald links the last two years only thing i can think of is Money. After designing both Dumbarnie a better course i feel but both very good modern links. From the normal tees at Dumbarnie (black) just under 7000 yards its a Fun course but the gold ones last page little too tough for me overall.
There is a rough demo of Dumbarnie by a scottish designer in 2k23 but it was released over 12 weeks ago.....just thought ill do myself a version to play so much lidar on it, it imported at 52% before an item was added.

Same Lidar as Dundonald Links the course next door, Plenty of changes at Western Gailes Golf Club. Update Western Gailes Golf Club (lidar) now in game.    |

If Any course can get me playing 2k23 again it will be my favourite Course in England Royal Lytham & St Annes. (In Lidar). (now in 2k23). In Game 11th tee  In Game pic from 2nd green looking at the 4th.  |

Dumbarnie is in the game now?? That list is great mate, I need to look at a UK map and plan a virtual golf trip...maybe setup a society...

Yes it imported at 54% with so much lidar terrain and height drops on it, Not a lot you could do with it just make it playable and make sure you take a sip of whisky on the 1st tee which they offer there. The 3rd day of the open Mum had an awful fall had to go and spend some time with her.....but good news she's getting better now and it gave me in the spare time to work on some courses. |

Life is a balance Dave. Push and pull ying and yang. Your Mom's misfortune in this case happens to be players of this games gain. I hope she does well! With lidars it is better to judge a course on its terrain not its environment with accurate planting and such. Cool, I'm going to play at round at Dumbarnie, lookin forward to it...

Any pin/wind combos you liked and would recommend? Not Really only thing i would say depending how good a player you are i found the Black tees more entertaining than the championship Tees. I Play on a Higher setting depending on the course so i found the Back Tees to tough. Also only thing which surprises me with the course is the 6th and 16th hole par3s both play in the same direction, if the 15th would have taken the dog leg to the left the 16th could have been played the other way and all par3s would have been in different directions, there must have been a reason for this love to know why.It would have been a bit of a walk to the 17th and they made that a signature hole maybe a reason. |

Going to look at the changes at Birkdale and try to work out what is happening there but i think its going to need new lidar.
Birkdale changesNew 14th green (looks about 20 yards past old 15th).so there extending the old par 5th 15th into the 14th....and the new par 3 will be next to it.Confused me a little changing the hole Numbers (Not to tricky to do).  |

Another Picture of the "new 15th" for the open in a few years, again another open links going down waste areas,it seems as well the "new 14th fairway heading towards the dunes.  |

Whilst i am in the area of Birkdale, took a look at the recent changes at Formby Golf club, It's been 4 years since i designed it for tgc 2019 at least 8 holes have been changed here is the 9th now. A Community member released my design for 2k21 and 2k23 and its one of the highly rated courses on pc,so it really does need updating because to me its one of the best courses to play Legend setting and when i played it the other week felt a little bad knowing its not really Formby now.   |
