If anybody want's to play along with the Pro's at the Belfry on the DP World Tour this week, going to release a day by day of the pins there. name will be something like below. The Belfry (BM2023) Thur... (2022 version and pin positions from event already in game). I'm absolutely gutted they've settled the British Masters at The Belfry now 😞 the first few years when they brought it back and took it around the country were great to watch, showcasing some fantastic, lesser seen British courses. Wish they spread it about a bit again

It seems part of the deal with Sir Nick Faldo Hosting he want's to make some course changes there.
The Cazoo Classic went to different courses as well. I think a problem for alot of the classic uk courses at the moment not long enough for professional golf.

Yes, completely agree with that mate. There's a lot of classics that have zero scope for it but who's going to say no to an extra bit of links viewing in the run up to The Open or a peak behind the scenes at Sunningdale.
To be honest, the attendance of spectators at the BM is poor so the don't need to throw up the Wentworth style grandstands and if the course is a bit short, they all have to play it and if the winning score is -30, it'll be a tonne of fun to watch rather than organisers try to manufacture and level par winner

Hey Yeltzman, I’m currently on a virtual tour of The Open Championship rota and have really enjoyed playing your courses especially Troon and Turnberry. I’ve been through Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland and am about to head down to England. I’m really looking forward to playing Lytham, Liverpool and St. George’s. As well I saw on page 1 of this thread that you also designed Royal Birkdale but I didn’t see it in the 2k23 game itself. Do you plan on porting it over at some point?
Thanks!

I did do a Lidar version in TGC2019 which was the 2017 open pins etc.....i did not get 2k21 till late and another designer had the course file and released it with some great additions in 2k21.i have sent the designer a message and heard nothing back but the only problem with birkdale is that the last year or so the course has gone through many changes for the 2026 open there holding and really it needs a new design and terrain data if its going to be close to it,there is a non lidar version in game of birkdale so at the moment not high on the list to update.....it's the same with Lytham and muirfield a non lidar version is in game and it's my favourite venue it's just getting the time to fully update into 2k23.
I just don't enjoy the gameplay on Xbox on 2k23 so i have not got the urge to get courses done like i did in 2k21 but thanks for the kind words and enjoying and playing my courses always nice to hear or read.
PS changed that post a little on page 1 those courses are really for 2k21 game.

I played Muirfield a couple days ago and did notice that it wasn’t quite as refined as the Lidar courses, still fun to play though. I remember Lytham from 2k21 and enjoyed it very much so I’m looking forward to checking it out here.

when you have a decent version in game and really 99% of players will not know the different an example below of lidar and non lidar the 2nd hole and without detailed terrain you would never know this nor expected to.The problem with muirfield Lidar is there real championship greens and in 2k23 anything over around 135 some holes unplayable. non lidar Lidar 35feet down. It's the same with Lytham in parts which is more a flatter course but on the greens its the real difference after this weeks open ill get Lytham in game,If you like my links courses give Dundonald Links (lidar) a go maybe my best design yet because its 2022 data and really it's what's it all about data and file size in 2k23 what you can make.

Does the 2nd hole at Muirfield really drop 35’ off the tee? It’s showing me a 5’ rise from the tee to the fairway. I love links courses and yours are fantastic! I just saved Dundonald to my favorites and played the 1st 3 holes. It looks great! This is my virtual “golf trip”… Portmarnock Royal County Down Royal Portrush Royal Dornoch Carnoustie The Old Course Muirfield Royal Troon Turnberry Prestwick Royal Birkdale Royal Lytham & St. Anne’s Royal Liverpool Royal St. George’s Prince’s Prestwick is up next, then “I head to England”. When this “trip” is done, I’m going to do a tour of courses used for the PGA Championship over the years, then a tour of US Open courses. I thought it might be fun to set up a group to play these courses with me, not as tournaments, just for “a golf trip”.

I've done the world tour before. It was better when they allowed us to switch out courses to anything we wanted in offline societies.
If you're still in Scotland, make sure to check out North Berwick and Castle Stuart. Should be able to find good versions in 23. Kingsbarns is decent as well and Cruden Bay needs to be back in the game. That course is a tone of fun to play.

It's a bit of a shame the Lidar version of North Berwick never made it from 2k21 got a Lidar course file of it somewhere it is a special place North Berwick.Plot of land there over 3000 yards from corner to corner would be interesting without the lidar how it was designed. On the subject of Birkdale i have found the 2017 lidar layout with the pins from the open in the tgc2019 course files and with it not being published in 2k21 still around 50% on the meter for planting and outskirts, it will have to be the 2017 version of the course but it could be worth doing if i ever find time.

Wow, sorry to hear that. You are amongst the very best designers in the game. Thank you for all of your hard work and time spent designing them, I appreciate it!
