Sawadee Krap! Welcome to Koh Phayam Golf Resort.
Koh Phayam Golf Resort is a fictional course set on the beautiful and pristine Island of Koh Phayam, off the West coast of Thailand in the Andaman sea.
The course starts near the clubhouse high on a hill and the front nine winds its way down to the ocean below, before climbing back up. The second nine is situated on a high plateau adjacent to a rubber plantation, overlooking Crocodile Rock and the Crocodile Rock Holiday Bungalows.
Just published last night on PS4 so may take a little time to be available on other platforms.
7278 yards from the back tees, par 72. Greens are quick at default settings.
Hope you enjoy.
Chris

Hey fargo, being a huge fan of the Thai Islands, this one floats my boat! I've never been to Phayam but it looks delightful and this course is no exception. My first course I ever made in the designer was an RCR of Koh Samui, "Santiburi C.C. (Tour)" I loved the plot looks like it's setup in the top left of the island i.imgur.com/MKsUt9U.jpgI'll equate it to what looks like one of the most serine places on the planet i.imgur.com/QOf8V6B.jpg and where I would like to retire to. Which looks just like your Crocodile Rock bungalows i.imgur.com/8Khcq3A.jpgThe rubber plantation (which you see everywhere) i.imgur.com/ApWM5e8.jpg sat naturally on the edge of the jungle. The bunkering and how many there are looked great. Good elevation and my poor course management mean that I scraped around in par. It was not a good day for the flat stick, but I had a ball and will be back.

Thanks for playing mate and thanks for the video as always. Yeah you definately left a few shots out there - some of the shots you tried are on in the right wind conditions but can bite you in the arse at times.
Playtested this thing a thousand times and then watching one playthrough and I noticed a couple little mistakes, it's always the way...

Oh, I thought that was one of your photos, and you said you've never been to Phayam thought it must be elsewhere. FYI most people haven't been to Phayam - it's a tiny island only accessable by boat from Ranong, which is a tiny town with an airport that runs two flights per day total. They would not appreciate a golf course there.

I wish it was one of my photos! Closest I’ve been is Khao Lak. Although we’ve stayed at Hua Hin and there are some great courses there. Black Mountain is awesome.

Had a blast playing this one, Fargo. Really enjoyed the sightlines. Your fairways and greens had some fun slopes to them. #6 was a beaut. Your planting set the stage for some good island vibes. To top it all off, I had my first ace in forever on #16! Congrats on the publish.

Well a bit of a shameless bump here. Been just over a week and I'm amazed at the number of plays this has had considering it's not been on tour here.
Was given "approved" status which is nice, was hoping to get this on tour but it is what it is.
A few lessons learnt:
- The picture I used in game is a good one, I think that's driven a lot of the plays.
- I wanted to make this one bright and fun looking, which I think I've achieved, however the textures used may be a little too much?
- My first hole isn't the best on the course. Probably the worst actually. Try to make the first hole, and the view off the first tee more engaging.
- The water on the right of the first tee has been described as a little unnatural being perched above the rest of the front nine with the rest of that nine falling away down to the left towards the sea. Idea was for it to be be a constructed water body, as this is supposed to be a fairly constructed course in keeping with many resort courses. I do see that point of view, would love to hear opinions of this if you've played the course.
- Tropical theme is a tough one, especially the bunkers. I played with switching to delta theme when making this but the background and island setting was important and the tropical theme worked best to tie the course in with the background. Heard some breif feedback that bunker sculpting could be better but I'm not 100% sure on what that means, if it's relating to all bunkers or just some of them.
Anyway, thanks for playing of you've done so already, and always interested in any feedback that you might have.
Cheers, Chris

Just wrapped up a round here, this is a good one, and tough, I bet a bunch of societies have passed through here! I saw your recent notes and had just a few comments—note that I'm not an expert by any stretch, just got my first tour worthy approved course in the db, so take this for what you will... 1 - I thought the opener wasn't bad looking at all, even snapped a pic! The water thing is true, I've done this myself on a few occasions. 2 - The greens were a bit severe and slippery as you mentioned in your OP. I think that's ok some of the time, but I think it was just a volume thing—too many of them had severe reds on all sides, and some also had severe red down-slopes into green flats, and then severe red down-slopes again creating unrealistic plateau areas. This is fun for a society looking for a challenge, but for the masses... may be too much. 3 - Some of the strategy could have been a little more even-handed, ie. the 13th: centerline bunker right at driver landing area with both left and right super narrow. Maybe expanding the right side for a more generous landing area, but kicking the ball further right making the 2nd shot a) longer, and b) a terrible angle into the thin green. I hit it to the left, landed right in the middle of the little strip of fairway and it still kicked me right into the fairway bunker. Overall just seems too punitive. Same idea follows on the the next hole with all the bunkers in the middle of the fairway. EDIT: Oh, and the bunker sculpting comment you mentioned, some of them are just a little too flat (see hole #1, circular fairway bunker on the right), and some are missing a high and low side (ie. they're just a "scoop"). Some of the bunkers are good, some of them could just use a little more sculpting. Overall, still really enjoyed the round, and like I said, a great course for a society looking for a challenge, so well done bud. Cheers!

InThisStyle Thanks, appreciate the comments. Yeah I sometimes struggle to hit the sweet spot between trying to create a challenge without making it too punitive or unrealistic. For example the 13th - idea there is it's crying out for a 3 wood off the tee where there's heaps of space, if you go with driver you've got a bit of a chute down the right that funnels the ball down to a shorter but harder approach to a narrow elevated green over the bunkers. And the left side is very tricky unless there's wind behind. But I find it hard to get the balance there. Thanks mate!

This one is ported to 2k23 now. I took out a few bunkers, on 1, 13 and 14 which has improved the course a little I think. And I've changed the lighting, and added a waterfall. Didn't have to clean up much planting, which was nice. I've also slowed down the greens a little.
