Monogahela River CC(PA)
My TGCTours #NationalTreasure competition submission for Pennsylvania golf course is officially published! #PGATOUR2K21
This fictional country club based in the hills of the Monongahela River & Forest which is just south of Pittsburg.
Monogahela River Country Club is a long course playing 7,431 yards from the tips. The course can be complex at times and requires you to think about your shot. There are a couple creeks & streams flowing through the course and the sloping can really make you think about your ball flight and landing place. The green speeds are set at 160 but where designed at 187 and can be played at 187 if your looking for a more extreme challenge.
This course is completely custom. The greens and black tees are designed to challenge 2k21 players.
-I did some research and looked at a lot of photos to get an ideas for the look and feel I wanted this course to have. I wanted the course too look like what I seen when googling Pennsylvania golf photos.
-deer are very common in Pennsylvania & I’ve added quite a few deer around the forest edge.
-used black, yellow, white & red tees to match Pittsburg sports teams colors and used the black&yellow hole flags to match.
-Milk & cookies are sold at the snack area! (The official state beverage is milk)
-the small town across the river is a blue collar town that thrives from the railroad tracks that run along the river.
Special thanks to Wes (jwtexan) & Andre (Crazycanuck1985) for organizing this competition.

I know you’re probably getting a lot of flack for the name screw up so I’ll save you that (although might want to rename the post to reflect it). This course though has some nice things going for it. The planting is done pretty well, especially in the revine. The stepped creek is something of a mad man, I know that took forever. Also the town you built is done well!
If you don’t mind me offering my critiques for next course. I would say your bunker shapes are obviously an after thought. They are very “video gamey” and it takes me out of the course a bit. Also your greens need a little more internal movement outside of just the tiers you create. The strategy of the hole design is undercut when the green is too flat and angles don’t matter as much. You have some nice contours on your fairways but placement isn’t as much of a factor to the greens. Lastly and a personal preference I know a lot of people share is just not liking mow lines. They look bad in this game and always take me out of the environments created which is a shame.
Good job on the publish!

Thanks TrailDucker for the feedback!!!
So far I am not getting any slack for the spelling mistake but I sure am kicking my self for it... It's now Monogahela River CC(PA) lol.
I appreciate the feedback and I focused a lot of my time on course planting and I am glad that has shown up to you.
I also knew going into the publish that mow lines would be brought up! I completely agree and I hate how all the mow lines only go one direction and don't go with the direction of the hole. I feel like the mow lines look great on #4, 6, 8, 9, 10 but fall off on the other holes. My main reason for doing mow lines is because of the #NationalTreasure competition. In my research I seen a lot of country clubs in Pennsylvania with nice defined mow lines.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the name issue. I can’t pronounce it even with an additional n. So unless you are from the area you won’t offend many.

So you know Troy they don’t retroactively give Tour Worthy (only happens in a very very few select occasions). They only review once give it a rating and then it’s available for schedulers of its TW. If your course says Approved on your designer page then it’s not rated TW.

Solid track, PiggyfrmdaBay ...felt like this course could exist in real life. Did think the church pew bunkers were a tad out of place, but I get why you used them, trying to connect to a fellow PA course, Oakmont. Overall, a fun round and a nice setting. Good luck in the contest!
