Welcome to another Major week. Unlike other majors, this one is modeled off of a major infamous for pushing courses to be virtually unplayable, penal affairs with narrow fairways and stupid greens. Because of that, for the second year in a row, I feel like this is a chance to test the best of the best players against the most ridiculous course within reason. "Within reason" might've been slightly compromised this year with Barton Hills by b101 , the same sadistic bastard that gave us Black Salt last year. I'd honestly say that, outside of context, this course probably wouldn't even be considered TW by most reviewers due to its stupidly penal nature (the stretch of holes 11-13 are extra dumb). So enjoy the ride and take it for what it is! I genuinely can't wait to see how low you guys still manage to go, conditions aren't even that aggressive, all things considered.Β After this crazy major we are headed to South America for a more mountainous romp!Β

13 is my lucky number but not on this course.....2 3's, a 6 and a 9 (in Rd3). I think I was -9 at the cut but can't remember if I was better than that after completing the last 2 rounds....probably not. Prefer "Black Salt".....not so tricked up off the tee.

Hello fellow Platinum players and the few extras that earned their way in via the qualifying events. This week is the American Open - our 3rd major of the season. Tough test is likely ahead!
Qualifiers in the field Jules Powell Cory Baldwin (P) Maikel Van Tilborg Nixie Briggs Ellis Jack Stauder Dan Satterlee Stephen Nabers Brock Benson Austin Talley (P) (P) designates they qualified via qualifier but have since earned a Platinum tour card.
Note: If you are in this event as a qualifier and make the cut you have the option of fast tracking to Platinum should you so desire.
Qualifiers can not play on both their home tour and in the major this week - you can only play in the major event in the TGCTours (Platinum Tour) society.
Good luck to you all!

Well I'm back after a few weeks away on Elite. Not quite sure how pleased I am to be honest having enjoyed making a few cuts and playing 4 rds for a change. Looks like I've timed my return to perfection to play one of the worst courses in the game. Still, will give it a go and if all else fails over the next few weeks I can go back to Elite knowing I've 4 rounds to look forward to again. Enjoy your week around the course everyone.

Splashed out of the bunker on 13 and it rolled into the water. With the beauty of the drop mechanics, I had to flop over the water. Then slid the downhill double bogey putt a hair past ... and into the water.
A putt.
In the white.
Into the water.
There's a line between penal and ... whatever you want to call that.
Anyway, just pitched it into the water a few more times until I took the max and speed golfed the rest of the way. Not that I make many cuts on Platinum as it stands, but I think I'm good with the WD this week.
Good Lord.

Let's just hope it's tested properly before release...

At least on MKB I hit a button and I can choose to rehit from my previous lie, which in this case would be the bunker instead of a hilarious drop zone. Apologies if you didn't like the week, it's kindof a once a year "special" event lol

Apologies if you didn't like the week, it's kindof a once a year "special" event lol No, I get it. US Open should be tough. This was mostly me just venting. I was -3 on the rest of the course, which feels about right. I'm not one to complain about courses, you play it as it comes and there's always a line; 13 just got my goat. I'm a masochist, and extremely stubborn, so I'll probably still play my 2nd round for s's & g's at sone point. There probably was the option to rehit, but I thought it was putting me on the 13th green, from which I entered the water, and not the whateverth green that's across the pond where it was actually putting me. So I uh .... didn't rehit, lol.

The whole course is 'not ok', to be fair. A US Open track in the era of the pro swing has to do away with fairness even more than previous US Open venues we've had and a large part of me hated building this, worrying that others might copy it and think it was good design. It really, really isn't.
Have fun!

Hello.
So... at last I spent some time trying to figure out high and very high winds. It is still a work in progress obviously, but I feel like I can make a few more educated guesses about where the ball will go in those conditions. Heck, I even birdied the 13th in R1! The drawback is that I have to look at an Excel file every now and then until I have memorized the rough impacts that I noted. While this takes away the flow to a certain extent, it should only be a temporary issue since I'm usually pretty good at memorizing numbers.
Anyway, I'm hoping to make the cut a few more times now, and I'm even off to a good start this week, sitting at -13 through 2. After another very satisfying -8 in R3, I fell into pieces in R4 (+1), but who cares? Demo mark erased, woohoo!
Good luck all and see you next week!

What an evil course π
After bombing out in Elite this week, and the game crashing every time I try to load a round in TST I decided to check this out for shits and giggles since I'm not actually in the event officially. Ended up with +2 for the first round, probably about right for my skill level.

Managed to go under par in the second round, -3. Even though the course is a bit ridiculous it's an enjoyable challenge when the score means nothing π€£

Hey, I wasn't sure on where to post this so felt like here was the most appropriate. As requested, Q here is R1 (-16 or 53) There are some very grindy and painful moments as to be expected, just giving a warning Lindsay.
