Just an honest question as I've seen your complaint on this before. If splash was called flop would you still have a problem with it? I just feel like splash in 2k21 was no different than flop in tgc19, except the name. The splash and the flop are two very different golf shots. You should not be able to play a splash from a fairway lie, full stop. Not unless you want broken wrists. I don't beat the 'sim' drum at all but I completely agree with this point. And especially when the putting has always been so good with this game it's a frustration that the short game is so automatic.

How will the new PGA Tour 2k23 affect the next Challenge Circuit season? I started very late, but it looks like the current season started in late September.

Wow, MJ is in the game. Look forward to taking some VC from him in a skins match. But really lets hope skins can be higher than 100 coin. And for crying out loud can we raise stakes b4 tee shots. The game appears to be the same game with just a few toys added on. Not overly excited. Maybe they'll surprise me.

So are there people with the game already, designers, streamers doing testing? Cause a person on my friends list who designs is shown on the preorder page on Steam as "already owns the game". A couple other friends (who don't design or stream for 2K21)are shown as "wanting the game".

The current golf game is the only golf game I ever played.
What is 3 click?

The current golf game is the only golf game I ever played. What is 3 click? It's the old-school method of swinging in golf games...I remember the old PGA Tour games on Sega Genesis and such. It's basically what the name implies...click once to start the swing, click again to stop the swing at the preferred power level, then click it a third time when the meter goes back down and reaches the perfect "tempo" sweet spot. If you miss the tempo in the final click, that's what would send the ball left or right. Here's an example from the old days (you don't have to watch all 2 hours...haha): Here's a more modern example from Rory McIlroy PGA Tour: Typically, the higher the difficulty setting, the smaller those "perfect" zones are and the faster the swing meter moves.

I don't find the chipping too far removed from real life, for me anyway. It's something I practice as much as I can, and I often read them like putts. I do chip in more often in this game, and I end up within a foot or two a bit more as well, but with more practice IRL I'm sure I can keep increasing my up and down percentage. The shots themselves aren't difficult to play, my practice is mainly about distance control.
The part I don't like in the game is the chipping from two inches off the green because it buggers up the putting power too much, and the distance control being determined mainly by club selection. I do use different wedges for different types of chips IRL but the majority I play with my 50° wedge regardless of the distance. I mainly only loft up if I don't have a lot of green to work with or have to go over an obstacle, but I rarely play an 8 metre or whatever chip with a lob wedge.

The short chipping is too forgiving for accuracy even on poor tempo shots from every lie. You can't tell me that chipping from a heavy rough lie is easy in real life. The difficulty of the shot depends on the lie in real life, it just plays like a distance penalty in this game, you are not really penalised for hitting heavy rough around the greens. Most pros would rather be in a bunker than punishing rough and I have seen duffed chip shots happen more than you think on the PGA Tour. In real life I played courses with some brutal rough around the greens,it is extremely difficult to scramble from poor lies.

Looks like we’ll be buying golf balls in this game. Hopefully with vc’s, I’m not spending real dollars on virtual balls.

I'm hopeful that if I buy the deluxe version but without all the Tiger Woods clubs, etc that I can upgrade at a later date if I choose to? Or even earn that stuff over time in the game?
Also curious to know what TGCT are doing about the next season. If they do start one up it's going to be very short but at the same time if they don't we're going to have a two month gap.

Guess I'll just wait and watch a few youtube vids for visuals after release and stick to here for trusted reviews, as the testers I relied on for this present game spoke with fork tongue ( hence the many changes in game that occurred). I've stopped playing this current game altogether.
Paying for balls and too gimmicky them I'm out.

You’re welcome to join us over at The Brew Crew Jamie. We’ll be keeping things going with our RUMble until the new game drops. 1 space open for the next one beginning Sunday. 2 week commitment each time.

The current golf game is the only golf game I ever played. What is 3 click? It is not too different to the the timing mechanic we have now but timing is with a press to hit a vericle bar on the downswing rather than how fast/slow you push the stick/mouse . Press too early closed clubface, too late open clubface. Biggest difference is we have swing plane also which you don't have in 3 click.
