I don't find the chipping too far removed from real life, for me anyway. It's something I practice as much as I can, and I often read them like putts. I do chip in more often in this game, and I end up within a foot or two a bit more as well, but with more practice IRL I'm sure I can keep increasing my up and down percentage. The shots themselves aren't difficult to play, my practice is mainly about distance control. The part I don't like in the game is the chipping from two inches off the green because it buggers up the putting power too much, and the distance control being determined mainly by club selection. I do use different wedges for different types of chips IRL but the majority I play with my 50° wedge regardless of the distance. I mainly only loft up if I don't have a lot of green to work with or have to go over an obstacle, but I rarely play an 8 metre or whatever chip with a lob wedge. The short chipping is too forgiving for accuracy even on poor tempo shots from every lie. You can't tell me that chipping from a heavy rough lie is easy in real life. The difficulty of the shot depends on the lie in real life, it just plays like a distance penalty in this game, you are not really penalised for hitting heavy rough around the greens. Most pros would rather be in a bunker than punishing rough and I have seen duffed chip shots happen more than you think on the PGA Tour. In real life I played courses with some brutal rough around the greens,it is extremely difficult to scramble from poor lies. I think the rough in the game doesn't really result in poor lies like you would sometimes get in real life, which is probably why it's just a distance penalty. You never see buried lies for instance, or plugged in bunkers. The rough at my course and most around here isn't overly punishing, spin is reduced but it's generally not too difficult to hit from. I'd agree that poor tempo isn't punished as much as it could be, but like I said the shot movement itself is hard to stuff up in real life as well. Unless it's a red tempo I don't see much issue with it. Sure I hit them too short or long sometimes but it's usually from misjudging how hard to hit it. Occasionally I'll rush and stab at it causing duffs, hence all the practice to keep the tempo smooth. I find the long game more difficult than the short game in reality, in this game it's the reverse, at least with partial shots.

I'm hopeful that if I buy the deluxe version but without all the Tiger Woods clubs, etc that I can upgrade at a later date if I choose to? Or even earn that stuff over time in the game? Also curious to know what TGCT are doing about the next season. If they do start one up it's going to be very short but at the same time if they don't we're going to have a two month gap. You’re welcome to join us over at The Brew Crew Jamie. We’ll be keeping things going with our RUMble until the new game drops. 1 space open for the next one beginning Sunday. 2 week commitment each time. Come and join in Jamie, good crew of people that play here

What is interesting in the new game is they have advertised 'lie management' as a feature which hopefully means more realistic lies and more realistic shot outcomes and ball physics from those lies. Also their talk about have Tiger's input in the development in the game sounds really positive. Also more rough options in the game would be welcome and would open up the designer on how difficult a course is set up. Even PGA Tour on the Sega Megadrive had medium rough.

How is 3 click going to made with different difficulties? Those that wanted 3 click for the past TGC games won't like a meter that moves too fast. E6 fell flat in that respect.

Have a feeling this is going to be a massive disappointment for the purists. Moving well away from the differentiation that TGC created in the first place.

Has the swing been completely overhauled? I thought the swing was fine in 2k21 and not really into a three click whatever.

Good i’m looking forward to seeing it all in action. Wonder when the social media people of influence will get access.

Last game it was 2 weeks before release on PC. Until we see the game in action we don't really have a clue what the core gameplay is going to be like. I do think we will have a similar analog stick movement swing and mouse movement mswing that we have now.

From watching several youtube videos yesterday, I'm guessing this game is going to play very similar to 2k21 with some minor swing mechanic changes. I think a lot of the stuff they added to this game is to get a younger and different group of people introduced to this game. I have no inside info but I think the ball packs that you can buy (with VC im guessing) is more arcade stuff like adding 10% distance to a drive for one shot, or adding more spin, or being able to see your putt line. I would think that you will have to option to turn all of that stuff off for each Society and individually and play as you want. I think it is just a way to get a different style crowd more involved with this game especially with EA game coming next spring.

Will have no issues as long as societies have full control over settings and swings etc.

How will the new PGA Tour 2k23 affect the next Challenge Circuit season? I started very late, but it looks like the current season started in late September. Assuming the same process as previous games they will take a few weeks to test out the API and functionality of the new game before opening up Q-School, at which time everyone will go through and re-qualify for the new season.

I saw a trophy presentation!! I like that...it looks like the swing is nice and fluid, maybe caddie interaction too...I'm excited. I really hope they add in sudden death against the CPU in tournaments, rather than ties go to the user. October can't get here quick enough
