Thanks Art. I'll do better next time! It's all good James, Poshers have it harder having to get their cards or going back to get them. Scores farmed. Onward TBCCCV!

I would like to thank all that have PM'd me their scores (and even the CC players who played but did not send them to me). We are ahead of the curve IMO, just waiting on our staff of writers to get some recaps out so we can post some results.
Onward TBCCCV!

Okay here we go. My first foray into the Cyder Cup reporter's lounge. Please be kind to this virgin scribe π. Match 4 in the Round 1 saw the incredibly Randy Doe a deer Doe Coba and zooby97 from the Monarchs taking on the Harder than usual Latex industries SkyBlueBen and Art Vandelay from the Strikers. I do promise that all reporting will be unbiased (Go Monarchs). As they headed to the first hole things seemed friendly enough, but after the first 2 holes were halved, things got very quiet. On the 3rd hole, Doe hit a decent approach shot, but with a sly wink, Randy walked up and hit one straight at the flag, Boom, eagle. Ben and Art tried hard but birdies just weren't good enough. An eagle puts the Monarchs 1 up. The eagle obviously unnerved the usually pliable Latex Strikers as both Monarchs birdied the next par 3 but they could only manage pars. Monarchs 2 up. The pain only got worse on the par 5 5th, despite Ben and Art's attempts at turning their car headlights on just as Doe was taking his 3rd shot. The ploy backfired as he holed the eagle. All 3 other players managed birdies, but the Monarchs forged ahead to be 3 up after 5 holes. The Strikers pair went missing for a moment, only to return looking refreshed and managed to half the next 4 holes. Randy and Doe, suspicious of this momentary disappearance, followed the Strikers pair as they attempted another short break. Much to their surprise, they found Ken lurking in the bushes handing out frothy refreshments. When confronted, Ken dutifully gave the Monarch pair a couple of stubbies and sent them away. The Strikers Brew obviously agreed with Doe and Randy as they danced their way down the next 2 holes and before you could say "I was in the pool", the Monarchs were 5 up after 11 holes. Ben and Art needed a miracle. Ben tried to call Paige Spiranac, obviously only after swing tips π€. Unfortunately Paige was already in the Monarchs hospitality tent, chatting to Carol and waiting for her two favourite Monarchs to come in for the celebration. With no inspiration forthcoming, the next 4 holes were halved and the game was over. Monarchs win 5 and 4. It must be noted that the Strikers did win the last hole. Maybe they glimpsed Paige through the flaps of the Monarchs tent. Anyway, a great win for the oversexed deers. Stocks in Latex took a hit and Ken was seen walking away in disgust. Onwards. (Apologies for the appropriate gifs all at the end of this report, unfortunately I have no idea how to insert them during text π€ͺ)

Round 1 -James Bunton/David Herron vs Alan Taylor/Ken Wise
Strikers got off to a rollicking start in this one, winning 3 of the first 5 holes and halving the other two, to take a commanding early lead. The Monarchs, however, refused to roll over and on the strength of a birdie from David and a bogey from Alan, managed to pull two back over the next four to make it only a 1 up lead at the turn.
Total seesaw battle on the back 9 - David bogeyed #10, followed by two birdies from Alan on 11 and 12, and just like that, the lead was pumped back to 4 up with only 6 to play. Staring into the abyss, the mighty side from Magner's battled back to grab the next three holes in succession, with both team members birdieing all three. Talk about clutch! Suddenly, the lead was only one up and the Strikers' sphincters were clenched so tight, you couldn't fit a cocktail straw in there. Trust me, I tried.
With the match hanging in the balance, Alan stepped up huge, eagling 16 to put the Strikers dormie 2... then following with a birdie on 17 to salt away the match. After the match, I spoke to the great Ken Wise, who had this to say :
"I shot the same score as Alan did, and you didn't mention my name once in your entire recap. Piss off, you snotty-nosed heap of parrot droppings...." Imagine if they'd lost?
Strikers win 3 & 1
