Dear TST enthusiasts, It's the week of the Player's Championship at Sawgrass. We play the HB recreation of this famous course and - for an HB version - it's not too bad at all. It'll be a windy weekend and the pin on 17 in round 4 will force you to aim away from the island green... unless you dare to fade it into the wind, of course. Have fun, good luck, Frans PS Not too sure I'm willing to schedule another HB course next week - Copperhead is available but it is nowhere near as good as Bay Hill and Sawgrass. If you have a strong opinion on me scheduling Copperhead or a user-created Florida RCR, let me know... it might just help me make up my mind...

Hey everyone, hey Frans, haven't been around much, I had my book published (on music history) so I missed three months wrapping that up. I haven't updated my course database by region since last year, but a couple of Florida courses I found (TGC approved only) that you Frans can test out are Seminole and Black Diamond Ranch. The other ones I found weren't approved. Pointe West was alright and used last year in CC - I remember a lot of water as much as PGA National I think.

-6 first round with 3 bogeys. Kept having issues with hitting grey fasts, primarily on approaches but also on the last which sent the tee shot into the water. Green reading wasn't too bad, although I did miss a straight one that looked like it would break.
The overhead views on some holes were absolutely useless too. Might as well have been looking at it from outer space. I nearly hit one in the right water on a par 5 because I had no idea where I was aiming. Luckily the rough stopped it.

Round 1: -13 Round 2: -7
HB greens kept spitting balls out in that second round.

Frans, no more HB course's please if possible. Thank you. Was plodding along ok, well few hic ups along the way, as per, keeping gavlaar124 at arms length, had 10 shots on him in rd4 at 1 point, then 17 happened, had a few tempo issues throughout but 17 rd4 was the best, for some unknown reason I got given a 90% swing from absolutely no where, it hit the wood around the green, bounced over the flag for a bath the other side, culminating in a TRIPLE, ouch. So -22 finish. Gav i think a -6 will give you the spoils. Good Luck all, play well

I had a horrendous back 9 in round 3 on Sunday played at the wrong time with all our American cousins loading the game up causing all kinds of tempo issues. Will play round 4 later in the week

Hey guys, I've just been playing for a few weeks and I have one question:
If you need to partial a shot, is there anyway of knowing how much you've throttled down, apart from simply the amount of time that you pull the stick back when aiming?
Also, I'll probably never make a cut here, I just like experiencing the courses from the perspective of a normal human being, and for me this week at Sawgrass is the best course recreation so far.

Welcome fargo! Glad you're enjoying TST. There's really not a way (that I'm aware of) other than the amount of time you pull the stick back and possibly using a practice swing to verify. You then would have to know what percentage you were trying to aim for which isn't straightforward unless you map it in practices. On closer shots you can use the higher camera angle to possibly see the landing zone, but that can be tricky. A lot of people use shot shaping to dial in distance with more accuracy, but that also requires some mapping or a lot of trial and error.
