-7 second round. Had a few ridiculous tempo issues in this round, wildly off in the red for no reason at all. Still should be enough to make the cut again.

Welp. Sweet dreams cut streak, you made it to 5 weeks so I barely even knew you. Seems like I can only reach that before I eventually miss one, the second time this happens this season. That's also the second 5 week streak that comes to an end in this last 3 month stretch, so... am I starting another next week? Round 1 -2. 3 under through first 9 but an embarrassing 3 on the 12th and 4 putt on the 18th, being hit hard by the theme of the week for me: being extremely snake bitten, but then again when you get to spend tons of time in the rough, maybe that's the way it happens. It's not Sawgrass for me, it's Snakegrass. Maybe I would have had equal luck smacking golf balls or snakes.  And then round 2... just more of that extra bad luck. Had to roll my eyes and laugh when I splashed in from the bunker from about 24 yards away on the 14th hole that just so happened to trigger a birdie run towards the end. Before that, seemed like very little wanted to drop or even get close, or tempo was off and directed the ball too far away. After the splash, it felt like I once again played like I knew what I was doing. Like... what is going on with me? Should I go get my head checked? So -8 at the cut and a miss, but felt like I was getting more unlucky than anything else. Once I play like I know I can, things are good. Official courses are not my thing (just a personal preference, I know we follow the real schedule so those will get chosen at times and that's okay with me) so I'm not even mad about missing the cut, but I might give the rest a go later for more tuning up. Just please tell me we're about to get away from these official courses though, seems like they're out for my blood... Cheers and good luck! |

This isn't the place for something sad like this but I just don't care. I've been coming to the forum for a year and a half now for my TGC golf fix, but I wanted to take a moment to say I'm honoring my mom for this week's tournament who passed away a few hours after Jason Day's mom, last Thursday morning. I used to write course previews last year for CC, and I'd read them to her each week since she was a golf fan.
She played a couple of the mini golf courses and got a hole in one on one of them so I'd always joke that she had one and I didn't until I finally got one a couple of months ago.
Well at TPC Sawgrass this week, after 2 missed cuts after a 3-month long book break, (a book I dedicated to her knowing her time was soon), I made the cut with a 63 and 64, for -17, around 39th place through the first 2 rounds. I'm not winning so I'm just happy I made this particular cut and played well whatever happens the next 2 rounds. It's only my 4th made cut this season.
This one's for you mom along with my next book. Rest in peace.

Thank you and to everyone else. At least it was a peaceful passing without too much pain and not a total surprise at her age. I'm glad I did a bit of filming of her talking and had saved a couple of voice mails previously - it's helped me a few times in this past week, advice I pass to anyone with older parents. |

Should not have waited with playing round 3 and 4; the masses are now playing Sawgrass in the official society and tempo was dreadful. Also, never had so many lip outs and balls running over edges as if the hole was full of concrete…
Think I ended on -35

Only managed -3 in the third round. Tempo was alright but I couldn't land anything close or read the greens properly. Halfway through the last which I'll come back to later.

Went backwards in round 4 thanks mainly to Hb official courses not liking the ball going in the hole (think I missed at least two 3 footers with lipouts) +3 round to finish on -14 and a loss to SMIFFYLFC79 |

68 final round to finish -20 for the week. Had a crazy putt on 13 that I had to aim about 3 metres right of the hole, but it rolled too quickly down the hill and off the green, bogey thete. No problems with that 17th though, I decided against the cut against the wind and just aimed over the water with a gap wedge. Couldn't make the 4 metre putt but at least I didn't hit one in the water there. That wood around the water's edge in this version of the course is a bit of a help if it does roll off the green, watching some of the coverage from the players earlier there's no edge on the real course, they just roll straight off into the drink.

After the 63 and 62 in the first 2 rounds, I was defying the odds in the 3rd round at -8 but then the island hole caught me as I pulled one that rode the wind left of the island in the wa-wa. Then a second shot skidded off the front retaining wall through the green into the water in back. Finished with a quad on that so an excellent round wound up just alright with a 68. The final round I kept it clean and managed a 66 including a birdie on the island hole.
I know it's silly to dedicate some video game golf to someone passed but I felt particularly inspired this week and I feel like we're a pretty cool community here in this little True Sim compartment of TGC and I felt comfortable sharing something personal. I had missed 2 of the last 3 cuts so finishing around 40th place (-27) is better than my typical play.
This was a fun distraction, so I think escape reality again next week. I'll put my shades on, head for the beach, grab a pina colada and change my plane ticket to stay in Florida for the next tourney. Good luck this week and next.

Limped home with a +3 (double dipped on 16) and level. -9 but on the right side of the cut, so I have that going for me.
Onward to Seminole!

Had this happen 3 times over 6 rds between the Platinum and TST pro tours. Kind of silly, but it is what it is. Missed cut, but currently 4th place on Xbox.

Already at Seminole and top of the Leaderboard (may have something to do with the fact that it's only been open 50 minutes!!). A -8 at the cut won't be good enough, fast greens screwed me in Round 2, but all good fun.
Onward as my tormentor would say!
