Welcome to week 8! Today we feature a course by fellow plat player B.Smooth13 who kindly made this version of the course for plat! A slightly more scoreable course this week that leaves room in places if you know where to miss, this World Cup of Design course from earlier this year has lots of scoring opportunities open up on the back 9. Enjoy! As for thoughts on a breather week, we're reshuffling the schedule a bit so expect something a bit more laid back next week.

Still here... -16 halfway so another missed cut... Still cannot deal with the greens (on the conditions) we're playing.

Opening round 62 puts me in decent position to make a cut for the first time in at least a month. Greens were tough for sure, but approachable in most cases. I managed to make a couple putts when I needed them. We'll see if that holds up in round two.
It was wild visually going from the CC course to this one. The grass at Burnt Pine seemed VERY EXTREMELY GREEN after the dark gloomy Barrens course.

Questionable legal pins, downslope landing areas to continued downslopes past the pins (12th R2), straight up dark orange all around some pins (7th R4). Feel like we’re in tgc19 PGA hell right now lol.

I'm not sure how representative I am since I only moved up from Elite a few weeks ago and, playing for relaxation, I'm overall more inclined towards easy courses and conditions anyway. However, and just to give you an additional opinion: I second the above and peskypeanut's post. I'm only a few weeks in and I already find myself just trying to get rid of my mandatory Plat rounds each week so that I can move on to something more enjoyable (for me). The fact that I currently don't post my scores has nothing to do with that, though. I'm just quite busy moving house. Cheers, Kevin

I have been in Platinum since we moved to PGA2K21 and have really enjoyed trying to stay here all of last season. This season though, I have not and now also just get my two rounds in asap on Sunday. Simultaneously, I know all too well how difficult Q 's job is and this is in no way criticism towards him. Even though the move to Pro was the right decision IMO, it has made his job almost impossible. However, if more and more people feel playing Plat rounds has become less fun (if that's the case, because there's only a few of us posting here), then maybe the time has come to move away from trying to keep scores down at all cost and focus a little more on trying to make playing the Plat rounds fun? The very best players (not me) will surely still score best and the other players might enjoy being here more. Q feel free to completely ignore the above! Whatever you decide, I WILL continue to try to stay here... Best wishes Frans

This is something I realized, a bit of an "aha!" moment, after publishing the original version and watching someone on xbox play. It had never occurred to me, but my cheap ass PC monitor is so dim and low quality (relative to newer technology) that what looks like a normal, vibrant green can appear to be super saturated and bright on a better display. Hopefully this wasn't too off-putting for folks, it kind of blew my mind how different the textures look to me on my screen vs what I've seen on some others.

The contrast between the fairway and the gray-brown of the heavy rough makes the course pop.

Just to be transparent we will try to disperse out the difficulty a bit more. Basically either the best courses out there will show up on plat (and be breather weeks) or really tough tests as I know there is a market for both!

Basically either the best courses out there will show up on plat (and be breather weeks) or really tough tests as I know there is a market for both! Thanks for listening Q. I think there is a market for both but the tough tests really need to be spread out (majors, WGC, playoffs etc), otherwise these events just all blend together and have no additional meaning other than the name on the event. You were doing a great job with this last season, and absolutely don’t envy the decisions you’ve been forced to make with the switch to Pro! In saying that, the gap in course difficulty between Plat and the other tours is massive right now, and would be a shock for newly promoted players. Let’s see more great courses that are fun, interesting and challenging without beating us over the head with overcooked greens.

Not sure what's gotten into me but I'm on fire. -12 / -14 for -26 at the cut.
This is despite a bogey in R1 on the Par 5 18th... are you kidding me. I was -13 on the 18th tee and read in my notes "try to hug the left side of the fairway". Played it a little too close, ended up in the rough. Some shoddy work from there, and then a lazy 3-putt on the green later, and it was -12.
Luckily shook it off for R2 to get the -14 that I should've snagged in R1.
Let's go! Onto the weekend.

All these great courses ruined by the most retarded greens with run offs all over the place 🙈
