We're almost there Ashton. The thing I've struggled with is doing the fill in reports. 14 matches didn't have a reporter. So that's 14 matches I have to do something with (I don't HAVE to but I feel it's right to). Let's hope a few more give it a shot next time. The  Press guys really have a lot of fun doing it.

Day 4 Match 9

Paul sid snott  rested his pint pot on his golf bag, stubbed his fag out on the tee box, belched, dragged out his Driver bought from Cash Converters and set off on his final round. His opponent, pixel golfing aristocracy Chris Bear resplendent from head to foot in Ping's latest gear leaning nonchalantly on his solid gold shafted Driver eyed the scruffy chap in daps teeing off contemplating whether he could get the match finished by the 10th and get back to his Pimms in the bar.

Well as it turned out Paul was 1 up at the 10th and held it all the way to the end. Could this be the result that tips the balance in the Monarchs favour?

Jim: What a putt indeed Shaggy. The pressure was really on Ronny there. Well thanks for joining us today folks. Monarchs win 3 & 2 after a half on 16. Boy the round sure had a promising look for the Strikers early but it was not meant to be. What an event this has turned out to be.

Shaggy: That was like a heck of a putt to halve the 16th by Ronny Jimbo

Jim: That was an incredible putt by Willem to potentially keep the match alive for the Strikers. The upcoming par putt for Ronny will not be easy. It appears to be a double breaker. It’s on the way…it looks like it has the perfect pace but is it on the right line? And it just sneaks in the hole

Jim: Sure looked like it Velma. Sure leaves some pressure-packed putts for these two golfers. Willem will be first up here. Fairly straightforward putt but will need to be hit firmly. And here it goes…and the putt drops

Velma: Yes Jim, he got under that one a bit and the ball just didn’t go anywhere. And Jim, it looks like we have a similar thing that’s happened to Ronny. That had to have been a tempo issue Jim.

Jim: Yes guys, Ronny has really come on strong here these last 5 holes to take a commanding 3 up lead into the 16th. Ronny is up first on the tee. It’s an excellent shot and oh, a bit unlucky with the rollout there with the ball rolling just off the green. Let’s see what Willem can do. Oh and that shot finds the green-side bunker. It’s going to be tough to birdie from there. Let’s see what he can do for his second shot. Oh and the shot comes out and just barely gets to the green. Might have miss hit that one Velma?

Shaggy: Like this has been a totally incredibly stretch for Ronny Scoob

Jim: And the birdie putt drops in for Ronny. That putt was set up by just an incredible second shot landing within 5 ft of the hole. It was incredibly tough for Willem to match and he just could not after missing the fairway with his drive

Velma: Jim it just looked like the wind got ahold of that drive for Willem and pushed the ball off the fairway

Jim: Ronny’s drive off the 14th has found the middle of the fairway. Let’s see what Willem can do here. It looks like a great strike but it’s drifting a bit…and it finds the rough. It looked so good off the tee Velma, could you see what happened there?

Jim: Just an awful outcome for Willem. You really hope to take advantage of scoring opportunities on a par 5 and you come away with a bogey, giving the hole and the lead in the match to the Monarchs with Ronny’s birdie putt

Jim: Willem desperately needs this par putt to drop to have any chance at halving the hole here. He’s made a nice recovery from the water but he’s going to need a miracle to come away with something on this hole

Velma: That was an incredible shot given where he had to drop. He’s going to have a chance at a par to put some pressure on the upcoming birdie putt for Ronny

Jim: No Shaggy, he gets a drop near the water. This will be an incredibly difficult shot as he’ll still need to clear a large amount of water. It looks good coming off the club though, Velma…

Shaggy: Like what happens when he hits it in the water Jimbo? Does he have to go in like after the ball man?

Jim: Ronny’s drive has found the middle of the fairway, let’s see what Willem can do here. Solid contact but it’s going straight for the water. I don’t think it has enough to clear…*splash*. Oh, disaster for the Strikers player there.

Jim: And after being down for the entirety of the match so far Ronny has pulled it level with just a spectacular par save on the 12th. The players will now head to the par 5 13th and anything can happen

Velma: There’s a lot of movement in this putt Jim let’s see if he has lined it up correctly. And he has, the putt rolls right into the cup giving Ronny the hole

Jim: That we do Shaggy. After a pair of less than stellar tee shots, Ronny is now looking at his second shot here from the green-side bunker, knowing he has a little bit of breathing room after Willem’s chip shot was too strong and rolled off the back of the green leaving him with a difficult chip on for par. He executed flawlessly but it just didn’t drop. Ronny will be next to play

Shaggy: Like we have a match again Jimbo

Jim: Just an incredible effort on the hole from both golfers here ending with an incredible 30ft eagle putt from Ronny for his first hole won in the match.

Shaggy: Totally Jim, just looked like he barely tapped it on its way man. Oh and it drops in. Totally awesome man

Jim: Here comes the eagle putt for Willem now. A bit of a long shot here from so far out but he gave himself a chance. And the putt comes up just short. What a shame there, it was right on line, just didn’t get enough into it. Let’s see what Ronny can do from 30ft. Quite the slope to manage though this will be tough. Here it comes down the hill now. Shaggy it looks like he’s barely hit it doesn’t it?

Velma: Two spectacular shots by our duo here to get on the green in under regulation. Willem was a bit unfortunate with the rollout on that one. Ronny’s ball rolled out as well but stopped around 30ft. Willem is staring down a 50ft putt for eagle. Back to you Jim

Jim: Let’s see what the 11th has in store for our duo. The tee shots looked good Velma, how did the golfers handle their second?

Shaggy: That’s like 6 holes in a row man

Jim: Yes Velma, let’s try and focus on the golf moving forward. And yet another par putt drops for Willem and allows him to maintain his 2 up advantage through 10. These golfers seem to be evenly matched so far. Not much action on the front nine and a lot of halves

Velma: Yeah Jim these golfers seem to be up to the challenge here today. Almost like that one time when the gang faced…(fill in favorite Scooby Doo story here - readers choice). Sorry, got a little sidetracked there, sorry Jim. Willem was able to capitalize on 3 and 4 but the play has been equal since hole 5. Both players hit errant shots but were able to recover to save pars. The match has become a par fest Jim. What hole are we on now Jim, the 10th?

Jim: Both golfers plant their approach shots within 3 ft of the flag. Should be a pair of birdies. Much needed for Ronny to stop the momentum Willem had from the last two holes. Velma, these golfers seem like they’re on their way to producing a great match for us.

Scooby: mmmm relicious

Shaggy: Those shots were like as good looking as an extra cheese pizza with pickles eh Scoob?

Jim: Willem with the tap in birdie putt to go up 2 after 4 holes. Boy that was an excellent tee shot there. Let’s see what the 5th hole brings now. A pair of excellent drives but I don’t think the golfers are going to be able to reach this one in 2. Shaggy what do you think?

Jim: What a tee shot there by Willem! Nearly aced a very difficult hole. Ronny is going to have his work cut out for him here with his shot carrying just outside 10ft. And the putt just rolls wide. He’ll take a par on this one

Velma: Thanks Jim, Ronny was able to recover from his splash down to have a manageable par putt. Willem is stepping up for birdie here and the first lead in the match. Jinkies what a putt Jim. That had a pretty severe break on it and he read it perfectly. Strikers take the early 1 up lead

Jim: With both golfers in the fairway off the tee the second shots were up. Ronny attempted to go for the green in two and came up just short in the water. Seeing this Willem decided to play it safe and lay up with his second. A simple chip on the green and he now finds himself with a 10ft birdie putt. Unfortunately for him, it will not be simple as the ball has somehow come to rest on a ridge in the green. Let’s head down to the course for the first time today and join Velma for the call.

Shaggy: Yes, let’s get out to the course Jim and check in on these golfers

Jim: I’m not quite sure what that is all about Shaggy. Snow White, really? Shall we get to the match? The golfers have already halved the opening two holes and taken their drives on the third

Shaggy: Oh, you know after Day 3, Scoob and I like went back to the bar to get some totally delicious eats. Like we were talking with Bogeyman again. He was like trying to tell us about how the clubhouse was haunted by Snow White and something about like a green and blue tube and like I was totally lost man. Day Four Match 38

Monarchs (Herron portred) vs Strikers (Tough SkyBlueBen)

As the Cyder Cup IV was winding down one of the later singles matches featured two of the TBC originals. David Herron, a titan of the XB platform and Ben Tough, the lifeblood of TBC and what keeps our band of merry gawlfers alive. Herron arrived pointless to this match while Tough was 1-1 coming to the first tee.

Having been in team play for years together, small talk was easy and comfortable between the two. The game progressed slowly, with Ben 1 up through 6. While on the 7th tee we could see them talking but not hear the words. It looked like Ben asking questions, David shrugging shoulders followed by Ben turning not Sky Blue but rather a shade of crimson.

This conversation seemed to spur Tough into another gear. He birdied 3 of the next 5 holes to go 4 up through 11. Greenside on 12 Tough appeared to be getting even tougher on Herron, causing David to leave one in the trap and drop the hole.

5 down with 6 to play, Herron tried to ignore his opponent in a desperate act to get back in the game. David improved but Ben was a man on a mission, matching his opponent shot for shot to secure the match on the 14th green.

The two shook hands but even in victory Tough did not seem consoled, he seemed to simmer in a sort of tewed emotion that Herron tried to break with congratulatory discourse only to see it be fruitless.

This reporter interviewed Herron first, trying to get to the tipping point of the match:

DH: I talk to Les all the time! Is it my fault he didn’t tell me EVERYTHING I need to know?!?!?

That’s all I could get from him as he stormed off into the Magners locker room. I then went in search of Ben, first to the bar where the barman (his name is Pete but he answers to some cutesy golfy name...Birdieman? Ventura?) said Ben had been there but only long enough to grab a shot and a Punkdawg to go. I immediately ran down to the broom closet that had been converted to Ben’s headquarters for the Cup. I asked him what happened, what spurred him into playing so well but with such focus. Ben Said:

Rd 3 match between Ernie ( The Milkman ) Copage and Dom ( Jolly) Bois
Both players had elected to replace their clubs with a piece of food. Ernie had gone with some Blackpool Rock 🍭 while Dom chose French Baguettes 🥖
Hearing that there might some food being thrown about brought Scooby & Shaggy away from dogging with Snow White as they needed some snacks.
The match was even Stephen's for the first nine holes or so but Dom's French sticks were starting to get soft and soggy from being dunked in the h2o all around the while Ernie's rock remained rock solid if a little sticky .
The fact that Ernie was able to keep his club stiffer for longer was enough for him to take the win 3 & 2.
Then Ernie said time to show Snow White why I'm the fastest Milkman in the West.
Dom asked if he had a foot long (30cms)for her
Every one went silent in shock, then Dom's phone rang and he answered "BONJOUR JE SUIS A LA BIBLIOTHEQUE

His opponent, pixel golfing aristocracy Chris Bear resplendent from head to foot in Ping's latest gear leaning nonchalantly on his solid gold shafted Driver eyed the scruffy chap in daps teeing off contemplating whether he could get the match finished by the 10th and get back to his Pimms in the bar.

Cyder Cup IV Day 3 Match 21 and Day 4 Match 40 - Hungover…


Lawrence reporting from post-midnight Las Vegas, where the Cyder Cup proceedings are wrapping up. How did I get here? Where are golfers? Why are the Darkwater Barrens suddenly in the Nevada desert?


Two matches remain for me to report: Dan Blanton (M) v Ken Wise (S) and Patrick Hannigan (M) v Sam Pond (S)


Once again, details remain fuzzy, as the slow trickle of anecdotes come in.


Patrick pretty much had his way with Sam, having taken 4 holes on the front nine to Sam’s none. Sam was able to take couple of holes on the back but it was too little, too late. In the post round interview, Patrick was able to tell us that Sam had fallen into the belief that he was Ken Wise’s brother, making him Sam Wise, last seen running toward the front nine and shouting “I might not be able to carry the ring, Mr. Ken, but I can carry you!” Witnesses state that Sam then picked up Ken, hefted him over his shoulder, and tossed him into the fires of Mt. Doom.


Things were a bit closer between Dan and Ken, staying pretty much level through 12 holes, when Ken fell victim to Sam’s psychotic break, giving Dan the easy path to victory. When informed of his win, Dan was overheard muttering to himself, “Did we wins the golfs, Precious? Yes, Preciousss, we wins the golfs… all the golfs for usss and nones for those filthy hobbitses, Precious.”


As of this writing, Sam remains at large, his whereabouts unknown. As for Lawrence, well, he was last seen babbling something about hookers and blow.

Nice report.

All in all, this was a standard "Dom" tour, especially the par5 13th havoc with two consecutive stupid green attacks. But even a good score on it wouldn't have been enough, so congrats to the Milkman : stiffer, longer, sweeter !
