Adelante Country Club is a pristine and classic test, tucked into a valley among the Los Angeles hills. Strategy is at a premium here. You must know when to be bold and creative -- and when to be prudent and play for par.
The course originally opened for play in 1931 on a tight piece of land surrounded by small palisades, and the course has been added to and tweaked over the years. The result is a compact, scattershot, and intriguingly awkward layout with a variety of green complexes and bunkering styles. It takes a vivid imagination to navigate the pesky slopes, strategic hazards, encroaching bunkers, and intrusive branches.
So get going... or, as we say, Adelante.
Par 71, 7,300 yards from the Blue and about 7,000 from the White. Blue tees are best intended for players who can carry their driver around 300, while White tees are best for players who carry it at least 270 off the tee.
Enjoy!

So crazy that this course has not had any replies and at least on the xbox very few plays. It is really, really good. Great strategic layout that makes you think where to hit in the fairway, where to layup and where to place it on the greens. In addition, lots of run offs to worry about and great views all around the course. I loved every minute of it even though I hit numerous flush shots only to have them kick in the sand or run over the greens leaving me a tough pitch back. Lastly, the greens just perfect with lots of interest and elevated many times which to me makes for a lot of visual interest. Thanks for making a 5* course and one that I will be playing again shortly. Look forward to your next creation. Thanks.

Thanks so much for your thoughts! I’m glad you enjoyed it, and really happy to hear the stretegy and challenge of the course came through. (And that a few flush shots bouncing into a bunker didn’t completely ruin your round!) It’s definitely a track for those who appreciate strategy.
Part of the fun is that on a second go around you know the spots to hit it and the spots to avoid — hopefully that holds true!

Hey catcherman22 can you claim this one for CC before one of the other schedulers do? This is great.

Some seriously cool stuff going on here ideas wise. Technically I could point out a few things that need little touch ups (i.e.: bunker sculpting, little strategy things) but the course plays pretty damn nicely! I've asked WhatAboutAmeobi to play this on Twitch when he gets the chance, come hang out and get some great feedback!

A wonderful layout with the gritty LA air, you can just about smell the smog. The plot is nestled nicely along the ridge line i.imgur.com/psogvBm.jpgI'd love one of these magic floating houses i.imgur.com/wZRlZ2a.jpg lol A very cool clubhouse with the flyover extension out over the course i.imgur.com/29B8jXp.jpgSome of the on course features like the half waste bunkering, flowering bunkers, and some geometric fairways giving you driving options. The elevated greens and negative bunker clumps you can see from the 9th tee. I wasn't sure how to stop it on 10, so my thinking was to knock it in the front bunker and get up and down. Talk about getting lucky and then made the eagle putt. The bunker I was in on 11 was a little agricultural and could do with some sculpting. Love the 12th, par 3 wedged into the hillside. The fact I knocked it to 5 feet helped! The 16th was a beast with the wind behind. Great closing stretch and tricky little greens. I loved it, 5 stars!

The picture really brings out the Oakmont before they chopped down the trees vibe.
Plays like a real course and was tough but fair.
Enjoyed it.

Super neat course. Needs a little bit of work on some of the technical areas like bunker sculpting...but there are some very interesting hole designs, especially for such a narrow course.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I checked out some of the streams last night and enjoyed watching you take on the course WhatAboutAmeobi and mayday_golf83, match play was especially fun to watch here. I'll keep your thoughts percolating as I work on my next design. Not a subtle course at face value but I think there is some subtlety hiding on certain holes. It asks you to hit very specific shots at very specific times (running it up from short, fade or draw off the tee into the face of a cambor, avoiding certain spots at all costs) or to suffer the consequences. The tight/odd routing was also a self-imposed constraint, it's a little claustrophobic but the idea was to go for something that felt like it was pieced together back in the day to quirky/awkward results. I'll look to smooth things out a bit in the future (bunkers especially) but I'm glad to hear the course is interesting and engaging!
