Just published "Deer Yard Park G.C." Set in the Arrowhead region of Minnesota this fictional course is my 5th published design. I held on to this course for sometime, but decided to finally publish it. Had a lot of fun building this course but at the end of the day wasn't sure I wanted to publish it. I keep trying to improve but after slow progress on this one I wasn't sure I wanted to put it out to the community. But today I did one final playthrough and decided to publish and ask the community to once again give it a go and give an honest critique. So, give it a play at your convenience and share your thoughts. Thanks in advance for any honest opinions. Designed on a PS4 so picture quality is poor, but it gives you a sense. A nice track here, some interesting holes... and some tough ones! Coming out on 1 & 10, par 4s at 520 and 575yds respectively, and pinching driver in both cases makes for a tough open to both nines. The pin on 1 was also tucked about 6 yards in on the left side of the green protected by two bunkers, yowzers, lol. Overall though an enjoyable round, some good views, planting was maybe a little sparse in spots—some of the green complexes felt a little barren. Good job though, felt like I could definitely go for a cocktail on that patio behind 10. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I can definitely see where the course name came from! Not a bad track and really like the planting that you have on here. I think what really contributes to the background barrenness though is that you’ve used the heavy rough brush basically all over the plot. It makes the course look a bit too green for the wilderness setting and accentuates the large unplanted areas you have. I’m going to pick on the long holes here a bit now. Par 4s over 510 yards are exceptionally rare even on the PGA. Hole 1 is borderline because it plays downhill (the centerline bunker was punishing enough too without the deep sculpting) but Hole 10 can’t be a par 4 at 557 especially considering how well protected the green is. I really liked the buildings in behind though! None of your par 5’s are really reachable which isn’t necessarily a problem (although I think you should always have at least 1 personally). My critique is that your second shots are too straightforward. There’s no real reason to do anything other than bomb a 3 wood up as far as you can. Some strategic bunkering or fairway shaping/narrowing would make them play as much more interesting holes. This is clearly not your first course and you seem to know your way around the designer. Keep on going cause I think you’re at a point where you’ll keep on improving each course!

Thanks to all who gave "Deer Yard Park Golf Club" a playthrough. much appreciation. Thanks too for finding and pointing out some problems that I missed before publish. The designing process needs focus if nothing else, I should have done more close inspection and playthroughs. My apologizes too the community. "Deer Yard Park Golf Club" will stand as is, no alterations, moving on to the next project. I learn more with each course I build.

As a Minnesotan I'll definitely have to check this out tonight.
