Welcome to Columbia Wetlands Golf Club, my entry into the CC Contest. Along the banks of the Columbia River sits this unique golf experience on a wetlands alcove in the picturesque Columbia Gorge. The course design is heavily influenced by Pete Dye, specifically TPC Sawgrass, but with a Pacific Northwest feel. The Geometries that Dye uses in his courses are hightened here with notes from Seth Raynor that serve as a contrasting dichotomy to the organic mershy water breaking up the course. The routing is in a pinwheel for the front nine from the clubhouse and out with the back nine making up the outer permeter. A unique wayfinding attribute on the course is every hole has a major geometrical line that draws back directly to the clubhouse, always giving you a perspective of where you are on the grounds. The course itself is a Par 72 with 6 Par 5's, Par 3's and Par 4's. The tees are minipulated to make a unique experience every round topping out at 7,065 yards from the Black Tees. These greens are my most subtle, the difficulty can be raised for the course by making them 187 and moving them to firm. Lighting is very flexible as well as the course still looks pretty good on all lighting presets. Dusk is just a bit more shadowy version of Default and Dawn is probably the only one I would suggest schedulers completely avoid. Selected Judging Elements:- At Least 5 Par 5's ( I actually have 6: Holes 1, 6, 9, 10, 14, 18) - Back to Back Par 3's ( Holes 16 & 17) - Two Holes with Centerline Hazards ( Holes 9 & 18) - Drivable Par 4 ( Hole 15 on Black Tees) Any feedback positive or critical is greatly appriciated! I hope everyone enjoys!
UPDATED:
Now available to play is Columbia Wetlands - Par 3. A sort of adventure routing Par 3 version ( with a few drivable Par 4's sprinkled in) through the course.

I'll take a little virtual trip down from Seattle and check it out. I like the dam, too. The other good news is there won't be any terrible I-5 traffic...

The bunker on hole 7 had my eye out. I've been blinded by a virtual golf course!

Played it this morning. That club house was some next level stuff my man! I’m a sucker for golden age of golf course architecture and you nailed it on this one. The object choices, textures and colors worked so well together. The retaining wall work was stellar as well. It was a challenging, but fair course that made me think, but not too stressful which is just how I like them. All in all a freaking beautiful course that I enjoyed my round at! Well done!!

coursedesignHQ: It was pretty fun to make minus the retaining walls haha Can't wait to play yours fellow Group 2. We defintely have the wildest bunch of courses so far. cd06: Glad you enjoyed it Charlie! It's a bit wild, maybe a bit more wild then your tastes haha Can't wait to see your final product as well! Q: Didn't dip into amphetamines but defintely quite a few nights intoxicated while working on it. Group 2 brings the #content for sure! I was thinking of maybe making one with my more typical greens if you or jwtexan want to schedule it in the future? Let me know if you would like that as an option. 9ironanon: Yeah, a bit wild but I always wanted to a do Sawgrass with more exagerated geometries. I guess it's the nerdy Architect in me. I hope you enjoyed it! zacheroni: Thanks Zach! playgroundhoo: I hope you enjoy it! TeeeJ9798: Where? aeastwood54: Thanks again! Glad you enjoyed it! blueblood1995: Eeeek you may want to see a doctor about that! Haha glad you enjoyed my wackiness! lucheyschoe: Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it as much and caught the strategy I was going for!
