Wow, something a little bit different! Loved the vibe of the highlands course. Felt like were in the backblocks of Norway in Viking country on a windswept coast.
The selection of colour was a great choice with the grasses all looking weathered. I enjoyed the planting and centre hazards.
The stand out though was the bunkering. I had to just hit it in there on a couple of holes (well, that's my excuse!) so I could see them up close and personal.
i.imgur.com/nB6Kt12.jpgThe talent is certainly picking up with off course action. What a stunning clubhouse!
i.imgur.com/LSv30sn.jpgLove the way it is perched over the 18th and I can only imagine sitting in there after a round watching the players coming through.
i.imgur.com/jXAtN9i.jpg. Is that a secret staircase up to the clubhouse?
The second clubhouse up on the turn is wonderfully done as well
i.imgur.com/dwDGkAN.jpgThe opening hole is daunting and how's the approach shot!
i.imgur.com/otVDfMa.jpgI was enamoured by the range
i.imgur.com/HqHlF5X.jpgEven the finer details like the road crossing is very thoughtful
i.imgur.com/nCYOhpd.jpgMy round started OK with a birdy putt that I under hit on the first.
Played the ground game on the second, as it looked like the safest option.
Then a birdie putt on the third that I over hit and I felt like it was going to be one of those rounds.
Found one of the bunkers on 6 and there was no way I was getting home from there. Took my medicine and made par.
Tried the right path on 8 but finished a yard short of the fairway in a world of trouble, but hit a peach of a third and a kick in birdie.
More trouble on 9 with a bad drive but saved par.
Another bunker on 10 that I could get home from.
Love the look of the 12th green and made a horrible approach that didn't deserve birdy, and that started the run!
Just missed eagle on 14 from a drive onto the green, chip-in for eagle on 15, and birdie on 16.
Found the centre hazard on 17 and chickened out of going for the green on 18, but made birdie.
Really enjoyed the course and gave it 5 stars!
