Cagey start but consistent as last week and a round 1 -4. Game plan is just to keep trying to make cuts in C and anything more is a bonus. Nice course and there are definitely birdies out there to be had and just need to go for it on certain holes and others play it safe for a par. Good luck all š

Some dummy is going to say it so Iāll be that dummy - shouldnāt it be Summer Classic considering the northern hemisphere is on fire?

Seems to be a well laid out straightforward course with a very unique green situation to make the short game critical.
My first observation out here is that the pitching mechanics have changed for Xbox again and it is much harder to hit those 80 to 90% pitches than it was last week. I am getting some weird vibration patterns and pulses in my backswing that are quite distracting, and not gonna lie my score through the first six holes in my first practice round was 10 over despite no penalty shots. Played about even the rest of the way, despite not making any putts. This course plays to a totally different aspect of the game that I have not been practicing. If you have not mastered the dynamic spins you are absolutely screwed here. To hit 10 over at 93% FIR/ 50% GIR, You need to be doing something specialā¦ like short bus special on the short game.
1. The first hole lays out the nice downhill and straight and you can punch it out 350+ without even over swinging. However your downhill lie will make the pitch a little bit difficult, and the green rolls around requiring a little bit of accuracy to be able to one or two putt. Just hard to be able to hit that freaking 92% pitch on your second swing of the round. If you somehow end up in that right bunker just remember that youāre sand shot will definitely carry 100%.
2. This hole can play two shots with a little tail wind or a nice long fade. Sure that greenside bunker will eat up a lot of shots. And the theme so far has been the greens show a lot of color. If you do have to lay up make sure that your club selection and distance is right.
3. Even with the headwind was able to clear into the second segment of the fairway, leaving yet another tweener pitch into the green. I read fast driver will put you right in the left pot bunker. These 96% lob pitches goddamn near impossible to hit consistently. Quite possibly an opportunity to go hybrid off the tee to the first segment of fairway and use a wedge in, or go for green with the tailwind. Round three the pin is cut right at the base of the ridge so it helps to be on the left half of the green to have a slightly uphill less breaking putt.
4. The green is going to give you @!$#ing PTSD. If you cannot pitch and putt donāt even bother with this course. I dropped my 95 yard wedge approach about 2 feet from the pin and ended up with triple bogey. Too much back spin brought me back 20 yards. Then struggled to hit the green pitching from there. Lots of entropy on this holeā¦ A perfect drive could lead to an eagle (or better), but the scuffling around the rough can easily lead to double or worse.
5. Long downhill par threeā¦. Lots of guessing with the club and distance but make sure you go down probably two, but beware the water. These longer but I have to go across multiple tears of green are wreaking havoc. Do not trust what the recommended distance is for downhill putts as you will blow by them by 30 to 40 feet.
6. Well this is a hole where trying to play strategically and conservatively can get you bitten the ass if you miss the fairway. Probably a safer place to keep your driver in your hand and hit it about 90% under a little bit of control as if you go with a shorter club and donāt hit the fairway thereās no way to cross that river and then youāre stuck playing for bogey. And the wind out here is brutal! Donāt miss your approach to the left side as a downhill chip will run away 30 yards.
7. A wide-open par five. The headwind and slower fairway will take away any chance at getting there in two however other conditions may bring in to play a strategy over the water hazard. 8. Conditions will be the trickier factor here over the actual layout. Sandtrap is really only in play if you miss hit the ball. Water is only in play if you REALLY miss hit the ball (and if you do, you are dropping in the adjacent fairway 150 yards away). Lots of green to work with, but once again if youāre more than 30 feet away youāre going to see a lot of break.
9. Uphill dogleg will definitely take your concentration. The wind will definitely work your ball on this hole as well. The one thing that I have noticed on this course is that with all the extra roll to the green, chipping is hard. I have had better luck pitching the 10-15 yarders.
10. Downhill launching pad similar to the first hole. A full drive with a little tail wind could put the green in play here. Lots of options if you were set up about 100 yards short. Beware the weird ass double green when doing your club/shot selection.
11. The hole plays longer because the fairway is tight. No way to get there in two from the rough. However the right conditions you can definitely punch and shape a Three wood or hybrid over the water hazard. If you were able to find it, The green will hold your ball pretty well, and distance putts are possible for eagle on this one so it may be worth your time.
12. Into the headwind you might as well just hit your driver hereā¦ with any other assistance three or a hybrid is the safer bet. Lots of fun to eat up red slow Misses, So either get your tempo right or put a little extra oomph to the landward side of the Green.
13. The other half of the double green! Lots of choices distance wiseā¦ launch one up in the stratosphere and drop it down or run it up on the front of the green and let it trickle. āPanamaā Will actually keep balls from running out too long so feel free to use that hybrid.
14. Another deceptively long drive uphill to clear those bunkersā¦ wind will be a factor. The fairway has some pretty significant slope to hold a good draw. This will impact your approach angles and distance. The green has a pretty wicked ridge on it.
15. Another green where if you do not get your ball to stick absolutely, it can roll out anywhere from 50 to 100ā. It drops off pretty steep to the left, so if you miss a little to the right your chip is going to roll forever. Better to play a little short or long and chip back across the ridges instead of down or up them.
16. So the natural slope of the fairway is right to left so if you are going around the bunkers make sure to account for that and donāt get too close to them as they will Hoover it up. This par five is a little shorter and could certainly see some low scores. Gold tees are driver/7I. Recommend with a little downhill right in front of the green to club down one or two, and let the ball trickle on to avoid running too deep or over.
17. The frustrating thing is that Iāve been driving the ball so well and I look up at my score in its double digits over. With the crosswind I played out over the Hills on the right side of the fairway and let it push right back in and ended up in perfect position for a short wedge. Into the wind, I rolled the dice and ran it up the cart path 320 yards. There was a little bit of a backstop on the green if you want to play the full club and spin it back.
18. The dog leg left favors a slight draw which will leave you a short iron to the front of the green. Lots of color so if you donāt spin the ball youāre gonna find yourself way below the cup somewhere you donāt necessarily want to be. Hole plays longer than it feels.
Round 2 tees play much shorter. On the rounds where the greens are firmer definitely take a few yards or percentage points off your pitches and chips or they will run right through. Pars probably will not make the cut in my division, but hoping to steal a few birdies on the back 9. Wind will play a factor most rounds, so donāt get too aggressiveā¦ I had better luck clubbing up and putting a little spin into it.

Round 1 +1, went pretty much as expected. Lots of pars that involved 10" or less tap ins. Stole the two par 5 birdies on the back 9. Still haven't figured out how to play 6... pretty sure I am averaging a stroke and a half over on it. Also missed 5 footers on 9 (forgot to switch to practice swing) and 18 (just a nasty break I rushed the read on)... feel like this was a -3 or so round that I pooped on. Approach proximity is sub 30', so I feel like I need to be scoring way better.

Round 2 another -4 which Iām very happy about even though I was doing better and made some silly mistakes around the green and on putting that cost me. Happy so far but due to work have to fly first thing tomorrow for a week and now not sure Iāll be able to get another two rounds in but Iāll try my best even if itās just speed golf to avoid the demotion marks.

When you chip/pitch everything to 4', it makes it easy, but it didn't get hot till 13, where I holed a 20 yard pitch. Cart path highlights- Hole 3 could have been a red fast disaster, but I hit the cart path and the ball went nuclear and rolled 100 yards to the green. Hole 6 was finally conquered with a red slow 3W that rolled the path to the land bridge. Hole 18 was well struck grey fast that got 2 massive cart path hops into the wind and ended up around 350. With Xbox, better lucky than good?

Tempo good one round and bad the next...you never know anymore with regards to tempo....
But love hole 16 with the two fairway bunkers as eyes and with the fairway rough lined out like an ear, lol....

Had some great CC-F rounds this tourney...
66 63 66 65
Left me at -28 and hoping for a top 10 this week. Currently sitting P5 thru 2 rounds.
Definitely a scoreable track, but I was hitting great approach shots throughout the 4 rounds that gave me short putts.
Now if I could just transfer these lower scores into a Major qualifying event I would be happy LOL. (+16 for British Open qualifying)

Not sure if I made the cut-off time, but had my best round yet on XSX, -9 in rd 2, to go from +1 to -8.

Another course choice Iāve thoroughly enjoyed, although lifeās does seem to through up some funny bounces and green slopes. The Par 5ās are stand out for me, you have to hit a great drive to even consider taking the greens on in two. Currently sitting in very unfamiliar nose bleed territory in CCB, so the refresh button is going to get a hammering over the weekend

Had a good first three rounds to sit T9 in CC-C, fear not because I gagged in the final round to secure another tun of the mill finish. Should remove one of my demos, which is nice.
Onward!

Not sure if I made the cut-off time, but had my best round yet on XSX, -9 in rd 2, to go from +1 to -8. Back to the same 'ol red fasts/slows in rds 3 and 4 shooting (+4) and (E) respectfully to limp in at -4 overall. I guess I should be happy I made a cut, but as a 20+ hdcp golfer IRL, I find this game more frustrating than IRL golf.
