Course Name: Links at Penn Hills Lidar Yardage: 7,240 Hi all, This is my first attempt at a Lidar course. I didn't think I would ever do a Lidar course, but the Links at Penn Hills is a course owned and operated by my in-laws in Nova Scotia, Canada, so I had to give it a try. It was more fun than I was expecting. The shape of the land was already in place, of course, but there was still a lot of work involved in recreating the vibe of the property. It was a real challenge, partially because I know the course so well. The course is located along the Subenacadie River in central Nova Scotia, approximately 35 minutes from downtown Halifax. It is a Les Furber design, and at approximately 7,200 yards, it is very scoreable. Course website: www.linksatpennhills.comHere is an overview of each hole: I hope some of you enjoy the course. Peter

...and here is the layout: If there's anyone out there that knows this course, you'll notice that the positioning of the 5th hole is off. No matter what I did, I could not squeeze the 5th hole onto the plot using the Lidar import tools, so I had to recreate the terrain from memory alongside the 4th. In reality, it is beyond both the 4th and 6th holes. The 15th is also closer to the river than normal and the river is narrower in that area for the same reason. The real course's plot is just slightly bigger than what the game will support. I'm guessing that is why we don't see some famous courses like Whistling Straits recreated using Lidar - because their layouts just don't fit. Peter

This is one excellent natural looking course. Nothing over the top. Just the way I like it. Nice one. 👍

Very nice little course. Nice hole designs, solid greens, open but not barren. Definitely looks like a place you’d grab a round with the buddies while indulging in some adult beverages. Well done

Well done Thanks Scoot. Can't take credit for the hole or green designs. Have to give that up to the original course architect, but glad to hear I didn't screw it all up! Peter

The paying job is really getting busy, so something tells me the course designing is going to slow down. Too bad. Watched the PGA yesterday and really got some inspiration from Kiawah. Dying to try a wetlands course now with tons of waste areas. Peter
