Just finished preliminary sculpting and surfacing for a Texas panhandle plains course, Gray County Golf Club. Based off of the dunes-like, rolling hills east of Amarillo, I expect this to play more like an Irish links than anything else. Plenty of work left to go, and I’m sure the design will shift with further sculpting and planting (ugh, why is planting a thing? ), but right now the following requirements are still in play for this 6600-yard, par-69 course: At least one driveable par 4 At least one par 3 greater than 230 yards At least one par 3 shorter than 125 yards At least two holes with zero bunkers At least one blind tee shot At least three par 4s under 400 yards At least five par 3 holes Total course yardage no greater than 6900 Entire course to be contained in square/rectangular 1,000,000 yard area (e.g. 1000x1000, 800x1250 etc). Set a perimeter early. Back to back par 3s or par 5s At least two holes with a center-line hazard (tree, bunker, etc) A few pictures of the current state: Hole 4 tee shot Hole 9 approach Gratuitous routing picture

One of many boring, stock holes on the course, a real what-you-see-is-what-you-get 260-280-yard par 3 playing down into a hollow Understated contours
