To all TGC Tours Members,
Recently, we have decided to suspend a member of the TGCT Community for conduct unbecoming of the standards we have set for this organization. This member has a documented history of violations of TGCT Bylaw III(a):
III. Member Behavior Expectations and Consequences for Rule Infractions.
a. Mutual Respect Among Members. TGC Tours strives to preserve and protect the centuries-old notion of golf as a game where sportsmanship and self-respect are the pillars upon which all the rules of the game are built. TGC Tours expects from all of its Officials, Staff, Members and Designers that only sportsmanlike and courteous interactions will take place on the course, in the forums, when reviewing courses, and elsewhere.
Unfortunately, this member won a recent tournament. We have disqualified the member from the tournament and have awarded the win to the runner up. Money Earnings, Rankings, and WGR will be recalculated and updated accordingly. The disqualified member will be allowed to rejoin TGCT after the 2015 season.
It is important for our membership to know that we will not tolerate conduct unbecoming of the sportsmanship and courtesy on which the game of golf is founded, including harassing behavior to other members or Tour Admins/Staff, cheating, the use of exploits, or any other attempt to artificially achieve success, whether determined by the rules of golf or our community rules, bylaws, and gameplay regulations (such as green-chipping). Golf is a gentleman’s game, to be played with integrity, and we take this very seriously. Anyone not meeting the standards of this Community will be removed.
Please be aware that we will be monitoring the forums closely and while we will not prevent discussion on the matter, we will not allow derogatory comments toward the suspended member. We do not feel that these types of discussions would help the community to move forward.
We, as the Admin and Staff, want our members to have confidence that we are doing everything we can to keep our community and forums a lively and enjoyable place to be, our website interactive and fun, and our tournaments fair. We are extremely disappointed that we have to arrive at this result. A lot of effort from our staff and volunteers goes into making each tournament truly exceptional experience. While those efforts are not diminished by this outcome, it is painful for us to see any member have to depart this way.
That said, we must now move forward and we are excited about all that is to come in the weeks and months ahead at TGC Tours. We thank you, our members, for continuing to make this the best gaming community around.
Sincerely,
Tim Owens (Founder, TGCtours.com)
Scott Doyley (Tournament Director, TGCtours.com)
Jeff Reese (Chief of Web Design, TGCtours.com)
