** UPDATE: Grovetown American (Tour) has been published. A couple of playability tweaks from the original, plus patrons, tournament objects and tournament tee set up. ** Hello friends, and welcome to Grovetown American G.C. This is my spin on a course in the style of that one set amongst the dogwoods and pines in northeastern Georgia. The backstory here is this is always the style of course I’ve always wanted to fictionalize, even back when I was designing in the TW series. It always ended up in aborted attempts. Usually due to either struggling to get the right look or the right mix of holes that evoked the feelings of the place -- both in how it looked and how it played -- without actually being the place. Inspired by recent works -- Georgia Match Club by mattf27 & Eucalypt National by rod81simo -- along with theclv24 conversion of the Magnolia/Firethorn file to Fruitland Farms, I decided it was time to give it another go. The result is, hopefully, reminiscent but unique -- a few nods to the place thrown in but mixed in a way that makes the course its own. For me, this one ain’t about the plays, the likes, if a tour picks it up or winning some contest. It’s about finally being able to check the box off something I’ve wanted to do, since course design became a hobby of mine. Now I have. Enjoy. ![](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EzSISN_VUAQpnGT?format=jpg&name=large) ![](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EzSISN_VcAMkSvu?format=jpg&name=large) ![](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EzSISOEVoAY9z4W?format=jpg&name=large)

Very good looking course, while staying true to the environment for the area in which it is based. The course plays very similar to other major venues with challenging shot angles and (at times) brutal greens. My only advice is to take a practice round before jumping into this one on society or tour rounds. Well done Mayo! Can't say enough positive things about this publish.

I enjoyed it Jeremy. Tough greens, definitely checked that box for Augusta vibes because there is never a point where you feel comfortable on your approach shots.
The planting behind 12 and 13 had me flying in and out of it a ton. Really enjoyed that, and the driveable but dangerous par 4 there along rae's "river" was a lot of fun. Almost aced it but then immediately worried the ball would keep rolling into the water.
One thing I noticed was that the course required a lot of fade shot shapes to hold fairways or find ideal spots and I thought that was kind of fun since the preferred shot shape at Augusta is a draw. Don't know if that was you fighting against the weapon of "fasts" but I thought it worked really well. Kudos to checking a box you had blank.

Yeah, there's definitely a bit of fade bias on a few holes, which may or may not have been done intentionally

Cheers Wes ... Yeah, there's definitely a bit of fade bias on a few holes, which may or may not have been done intentionally As lefty this makes it real fun. There were some absolutely SMARMY putts to be had here on some holes, loved it, too many courses out there with only green slopes around their pins, this one doesnt hold back and makes me lose my sanity on some short putts. Here's my golfer just casually getting their feet wet. Pretty tumultuous if I do say so myself ![](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/832161770326982668/833578470809927690/unknown.png)

Loved everything about this. The environment, the ode to Butler’s Azaleas without BEING Butler’s Azaleas, the shotshaping required. Greens were nutty af without being tricked up and gimmicky. Glad you were able to check that box, well done sir.

That's a beauty right there - sightlines were class and the stretch from 10 to 13 was worthy of the real thing. Seriously good course man! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Absolutely love this one! Played it twice yesterday, and both times I found mistakes on 15....and it penalized me greatly. That's a TOUGH golf hole. I was center of the fairway the first time through, and got a huge kick to nearly into the creek on the right. Tried to play out of the first cut to the hole instead of laying up. Yeah, I found the drink. Next time through, I hit a perfect drive long up the left side, stayed up on the fairway. Then put my approach into the green side bunker. Playing to pin 4, I think. Hit what I thought was gonna be a great sand shot, and it ran out all the way into the water, and I made triple. I didn't care though! I still had a great time on this one! Instant favorite and 5-star from me! I'll be back often!

Man you definitely checked that box with an exclamation. Great course Mayday. I’m sure I’m like the rest I’m a sucker for Augusta and this was so similar in feel but yet so different. Thought you nailed everything planting, the environment, the views and most of all the sculpting. Those runoffs off the green into the water, man felt like the pros pitching that ball from over the 15th green hoping that ball stops. Great stuff.
