I know there is an amazing contest going on right now, but I just published my two course complex based in Hawaii. Both courses are TGC Tour approved, so I thought maybe folks would like to check them out and let me know what you think.
Part of the 36 hole Blacksands complex, the Triggerfish course is the easier, resort style course. It has wider fairways, more light rough and shorter holes. There is plenty of water and you will get to see the blacksand beaches for which the resort is named.
Hole 3 is a par 3 that offers the first glimpse of the blacksands beach. Typical of the course, it also offers some flowers to enjoy the view even more. You can see the peninsula of the Barracuda course in the background.
Hole 4 is the longest par 4 (478 yards) on the course, but with the right wind and attitude, it may be reachable. The near 90 degree dogleg around the beach can be played safe to the left for those unwilling to risk cutting the dogleg.
Hole 7 is a short (511 yards) par 5 that had a decision on the tee. Do you layup to the first fairway, making it a three shot par 5, or do you go for the second fairway over the rocks making your approach a mid iron? Eagle or double bogey are possible on this par five. And if you get frustrated, you can always leave the course and head to the resort's tennis center located just left of the hole.
Hole 13 is a pretty but tough par 4. Avoid the ocean on the left off the tee and maybe even cut the dogleg a bit if you want. The green is protected by ocean and a trap.
Hole 14 is a risk/reward par 4. You can drive the green with the right shot and wind, you can also play safe and still have a wedge into the green. Don't go too far left though, the ocean calls for errant shots.
Hole 18 is a tough finishing hole. You have to decide on the tee if you can carry the inlet of water. If so, it should be a short iron into the green. If you layup, you have a long iron into the green. The green is well protected by water and sand, but also some beautiful flowers.
