Greetings all,
New designer here, wanted to get some screenshots of my first course out there. I'm a newbie with the designer but really love working with it so far. I'm on XBox so the screenshots aren't great but any comments are welcome! I'll try to get more up in the next few days.

Lighting might be a touch too low. You might consider bringing it up just a little bit. Hard to tell, is the 4th a blind tee shot?

The lighting is a little low, that part of the course is in shadow based on the inclination and I was thinking about bringing that up a bit, I like how it looks on the holes on the ocean but the 4th and the 12th hole both are in more shadow than I would like. I'll play around with it and see what I can do. The 4th is not a blind tee shot, its actually pretty downhill but admittedly the screen capture doesn't show it well. I'll try to get some better ones, I'm still figuring out the screen caps on Xbox.

Pictures look really nice aside from the lighting previously mentioned. If you get interested in putting out a beta would be happy to give my very amateur feedback.

New screencap, 17th green taken during a playtest. I changed the lighting considerably, going to overcast and much higher inclination too, I kinda like it but not 100% sold on it yet, stay tuned. Haven't started planting on this half of the plot yet.

I like the vibe. I must admit, I'm a sucker for a dark green rough blending into the burnt landscape. Nicely done there. Let me know when you're ready for BETA testing, and I'll give it a go.

You might also consider joining into the Design League being run right now. Design challenge 2 is kicking off any day now. Check out the thread here -> tgctours.proboards.com/thread/27258/design-league-season-2I think Matt might start a second thread for challenge 2 since challenge 1 got so much interest! Its all about fun and casual, but also unique challenges designed to help people develop their design skills. Plus the courses then get critiqued by some of the more veteran guys to help people develop. Just throwing that out there!

I recently subscribed to b101's youtube channel and have been really enjoying his design league playthroughs, joining up for one sounds like fun, might have to do that.

Greetings all, I finally have a beta out for my first course (OspreyBeta1), I picture it as a fictional course set on an island somewhere off the coast of northern CA/southern Oregon. Just a yard under 7500, par 72, but it plays shorter due to elevations and you have to be selective off the tee in a lot of places. I have some polish work to do on it (brush on some heavy rough in spots, one more pass at all the bunkers for sculpting, check tees, and some more planting, still have some object meter left ), but overall I think the playable areas of the course are mostly there. 17th green 18th hole looking back toward the clubhouse on the hill, with 9 green in the background Any feedback is welcome and much appreciated, and thanks in advance! As a first course I am pretty pleased with how it has turned out so far. I keep finding things I might have done differently and keep making changes as I get better with the designer itself but I realized if I didn't just put it out there I might never finish it!

Hey, Just finished playing. Enjoyed the round. I thought the layout was good with some very creative hole designs. You also created some good green slopes where you had nice playable slope at the hole. Not easy to do well. If I had to critique the design in one area, you had quite a number of holes where driver was not an option. Doesn't bother met per say, but I've received that critique myself in the past. The planting could use a little work as you said. Where you've planted grasses needs to be randomized a bit right of the fairway on 2. You can tell they were cut and pasted as circles from somewhere else. Need to mix the edges of those patches up a bit. I think that's just an anomaly, though, as the planting looks pretty good starting on hole 4. I think you just need to fix up the first couple of holes plus some of the more bare areas between holes. Some other items I noted while playing: - The first cut around the fairways looks a little off color to me. Maybe consider choosing something that blends a bit better with the fairway and rough colors.
The sculpting is a little harsh in places. The more forward tee boxes on 1 are an example. The end of the fairway on 2 is another. Perhaps just smooth those contours out a bit to make them look a little more natural.
- I like holes 3 and 4. Very nice.
- I think you need some more planting around the 9 green. Looks a little plain.
- I really like 14.
I hope this helps. This is a really interesting layout in my opinion. Peter

I'll take it and make some changes, hopefully will be publishing a final version soon. I'm glad you enjoyed the round, as this is my first design I wasn't sure how it would be received so the encouraging words are great to hear. Thanks again, really appreciate you taking the time! Best, Eric
