Inspired by the visual theme of courses like Mid Pines and Pine Needles (..ish), I'm very happy to announce the publishing of my World Cup of Design contest entry: Burnt Pines.
This course should present a tough, albeit fair, challenge for most - but more importantly, my hope is that it is a fun and enjoyable experience for all. Natural sandy soil flows throughout the course grounds, with purposefully formed (and placed) bunkering bleeding into-and-out-of that natural sandy soil. I struggled for a long...long time with what to do here, and regardless of where this lands in the contest, I'm really proud of this one - probably the most I've ever struggled with producing a "look" I had in my head, and feel like I got as close to that visual thematic as I could.
Note for players: Blue and White tee's are largely the same, with a select few holes presenting different angles from the tee, and perhaps a slight distance variance, too. Default green speed is 180, but feel free to bump up to 187 if you so choose - that's how she was designed.
Hope you enjoy your round, and a sincere best of luck to all my fellow contest participants.

I've been wanting a good Mid-Pines type of course for awhile now. Firing it up now, looks like my vibe.
Ok that's enough hyping the competition.

Some straight dope. That's what. In all seriousness... please pee in this cup. We need to protect the integrity of this competition. I'm really just trying to protect your legacy. After all, nobody wants to be one of the best in history to only be strapped with an asterisk next to their name and be snubbed by the Hall of Fame **cough Barry Bonds cough**... Really enjoyed my round. The planting did a great job of making the course feel "full" while still feeling very open. The greens were very smooth(pun intended). I got lucky on a few shots, but I think that might have been designed into the course. Good luck in the contest bro! (Even though I don't think you'll need luck)

Very enjoyable. Felt like a Carolina sandhills course with the tall pines. Love the aesthetic. The difficulty is in the length and the narrowness. Loved the bunkering as well, and the contrast between the waste areas and the shaped bunkers. No. 12 was a favorite.
Only real criticism: It did feel, somewhat, of playing the same hole over and over again because of the narrow fairways as it didn’t leave a lot of decisions on shots.

Loved the environment with this. Looked straight forward and fairly easy but was sneaky tough with narrowness and distances. Played well and was fun to go around twice. Great job.

Played this with a buddy last night. Very nice course! Challenging greens and they’re fast. 5 star and favorited. Enjoyed it very much

B.Smooth13Justin, This is a beauty of a course and your attention to detail is second to none. The environment and vibe are perfectly done and I actually feel like I've transported to North Carolina and feel like I'm playing in the Pinehurst area. I only wish I was on a real life golf trip with friends. I thought that each hole was really well framed and the green complexes were interesting and challenging. My one piece of minor feedback is regarding #17. Playing pin #3, I hit the perfect drive the left edge of the green and the ball funneled down into a spot that gave me a nearly impossible putt. Sure, I should have maybe not played there with that ping but you enticed me to hit driver and it felt like any ball the left there would funnel down to this impossible putt. Not a big deal at all and sometimes thats golf, just some minor feedback. Well done on this. Group F might end up being the toughest group of them all from what I can see.

Another very solid entry into the contest. Enjoyed the round. The 12th was a beauty but clearly 13 was best . Tough group, but can this one do sneaky well?
