Giraffe72A bit of real life rivalry today with the Sky Blues desperately needing a win. Here hoping the Robins over indulged themselves over Easter #PUSB Good job it's not at the Gate, we've now lost 7 in a row at home! Away form is good though, and they will have had a proper Pearson roasting after Friday's performance. Expecting to see a few youngsters in the team today. You need the points more than we do, although we still need a couple of wins to be truly comfortable. Shame it's not at the Ricoh, we love playing there!

We were bloody awful at QPR on Friday and the trap door is opening unless we start picking up some points. We’ve got a good record at St. Andrews. Hopefully we’ll hang on so you get your trip to The Ricoh next season!!

The Pirates remember oh so well the beatdown they took at the hands (or is it tiny little feet?) of the Hamsters last season. Out shot by a massive 20 attempts on goal in the 4-0 whitewashing. But these new Bucs are keen on revenge. They trained hard on board their ship on their way here: This was to no avail. Their keeper did not have to face as many shots but he missed just enough to have Orlando down big, 2-0, at the half. Round 1 -6 Round 2 -2 after a soul crushing 3 jack on 18. Onward!

Round Two
71 (-1)
My bucket of resilience is very close to empty regarding this game. I just grow weary of constantly trying to play catch-up with players who have already reduced this new format to the a birdie-blitz. This then seems to lead to designers, who put an awful lot of time and effort into their courses, making overly-challenging tests to try to retain some dignity for their creations. All of this set against the backdrop of hugely variable results for the average hacker like myself.
There seems to be little streaks which you can ride where whatever tweaks have been implemented synch with your playstyle/controller/system but these are usually temporary for most. I have absolutely no interest in moving to the Beer League, filled as it is with sandbagging former pro-tour players shooting -60 as it just feels like ten pin bowling with the bumpers in the gutters. As a consequence I am not going to make any plans beyond the end of Season Two for the PGF League. I will complete this thing I started but I am afraid that the constant grind of TGCT is no long fun for me.

Sorry to hear about your struggles Greg and I understand your frustration being there myself so often. I've found myself changing parts of my swing and it seems to only last for so long until it starts to become random again. We've had a few courses recently that seem to have been designed to try and keep scores down which can alienate players who are already trying to find some consistency.
I hope you find some positives soon even if it's just to keep you playing.

On a few occasions I ended up with downhill putts which ended up off the green despite barely nudging them. It's OK to say I should have positioned myself better on the green but my skill level doesn't allow that, I'm usually just happy to hit somewhere, anywhere on the green. I pretty much threw in the towel in Rounds 3 and 4 through frustration and wrote the week off.

Giraffe72⚽️⚽️⚽️ We never score 3!! Enjoying this! I think we have a number of senior players who are just coasting towards the end of the season, picking up their very generous pay packets and planning their holidays. Not good enough, and Pearson said as much afterwards. The Championship is a very competitive league and we aren't at the races at the moment. It's a very good job we've won a few games we had no right to win earlier in the season (Coventry at home being one of them) or we would now be in serious trouble. Hope you stay up.

Not that I played much better, more that taking a step away put it back in to its proper perspective and I started enjoying it again. It is still a great game and community, but the sometimes the grind is real and you just need to step away for a bit.

Curious the reports coming in, we played it on max firm and fast in the Ryder Cup and while it was certainly a challenge I never thought it was unfair. I should be teeing off after work later, I now have a certain amount of trepidation!

For the first 22, Cassino Calcio looked absolutely lost on the pitch, and the pride of Amsterdam were running metaphorical--and in some cases literal--circles around Italian defenders. The Azzurri were lucky to concede only the one goal during the opening salvo, as they looked like a pee wee league team trying to keep pace with a professional squad. (Or a CC-C hacker trying to match a Platinum player even.)
((R1: 73))
A brief stoppage occurred as the Italian manager lost his contact while harassing the sideline official. When he discovered and replaced the lens, his newfound vision allowed him to realize his squad had been playing with ten men for the first 30 minutes. Quickly rectifying the error, the missing defender was brought on, which stabilized things on the back end enough for the Italians to piece together a competent attack, even managing to sneak one past the Ajax keeper in stoppage time.
((R2: 74))
Their spirits lifted by the equalizer before the break, the Azzurri played to type and focused on simply keeping the Dutch side from getting behind the defense. A counter off a stolen pass led to the go-ahead goal.
((R3: 72))
From there Cassino Calcio smelled blood in the water and pressed the attack, finding the back of the net once again in the 82nd minute for the dagger, and avenging Season One's loss in the 7th place game.
((R4: 69))

3rd Round -4
It seems to be a common occurance that Celtic start to play better as the match wears on. They were on the front foot from kick off as Edouard had an effort at goal within a minute of restart, then Elynoussi tried his luck 4 minutes later. The match simmered down for a period before Celtic had another couple of pops at the Chelsea goal through Edouard again and McGregor. They kept it tight at the back knowing if Chelsea seen an opportunity they would seize it.

Canterbury Utd Dragons were facing the double whammy of a long flight back from Europe and stuffing themselves with the evils of sugar laden chocolate to celebrate rainbow bunnies or something. Being back home should have been an advantage but they weren't used to seeing the sun after two weeks in the ancestral home country, but they silently gave thanks to fore-bearers who had the good sense to make a three month boat journey to greener pastures. They also underestimated their opponents in the first half, surely a town of less thean 50,000 souls could not put up much, it would essentially be all men folk aged over 19 and under 40 from the town turning out to play. They didn't allow for the air quality of Hyvinkää being so healthy due to dense pine forests that their lads had that extra pace on the long ball. R1 73 (+1) R2 71 (-1)

First half complete. Comedy of errors in the first minute (played pinball off the trees twice!) but the defense stepped up and ensured not too much damage was done. City settled in to the game then and as the half wore on started playing some really good stuff. Accurate passing, forwards on song, the Fifers didn't know what hit them! They made a couple of mistakes towards the drinks break (including a maddening water ball on approach to 18) but had done plenty to take the early lead.
After the drinks break they started in a similar vein and the manager is dreaming of lifting trophies. But then a total disaster on the half hour mark, they just switched off! All the good work undone and their play got very ragged for the rest of the half. Thankfully the defense were still on song and despite relentless pressure from the Fifers they managed to hold on for a 2-0 lead at half time.
64 and 71
In the water twice on 6 in round 2, just when I was looking at genuinely getting in contention, and just couldn't get it going again. I actually preferred the 187s to the 171s in round 2. The scoring is all relative Greg, it looks like you've made the cut. The course is a tough challenge but I've got to say I really like it, much like that other Georgia course which I'm very much looking forward to watching this weekend.

The course is a tough challenge but I've got to say I really like it, much like that other Georgia course which I'm very much looking forward to watching this weekend. I know it's all relative Jamie, probably just venting after four months of struggling with a game that seems to be increasingly focused on design rather than playability. This isn't a bad course by any stretch and I have had to get much better at recovering from those approaches that roll off the green, my issue is my inability to control those approaches with the vagaries of tempo negating attempts to fade a shot towards the pin and the over abundance of red fasts I get taking me long and left (and of course going perfectly straight into any water if I try to play for that result). Anyway, calming down. East Fife produced as good a performance as they have managed for a while at the start of the second half. Mostly controlled and efficient in recovering from errors they produced a blemish-free 66 (-6), starting with a 47ft uphill eagle and building from there. It really felt as though it was as good a minus six as I have produced in many moons and there were opportunities for the greatest active lag putter from inside 12ft, I was even taunted like a French guard with a Mexican chip that died on the lip just needing one more revolution.
