While we are nearing the "official" WCoD judging period, I am playing the long game. There is only one criteria than I am using to determine whether or not this contest was a success for me...
Whether or not cd06 bumps my thread in a year or so from now. |

The sixth hole will stick with me for a long time, but god dangit is this an adventure from beginning to end. Unique takes on many famous templates. The planting and natural look of the surrounding hillsides was so nice. As good as any of your fictional courses...reminded me of Raynor Farms but with a more modern take in a dryer climate. Will be back many times. Thanks for sharing your work with us, Craig.

just played this course - the setting, landscaping and feel put me right there at the real Rustic Canyon in Moorpark. Fantastic job.
RC was one of my "destination courses" years ago. Shot values as high as any course i've played. Amazing how diff't from a traditional setting like Wood Ranch, which is only a few miles away on the other side of the 23. Would Really like to see this course with the actual routing, would play it more often. Any chance you would revisit someday?

I took a brief look at trying to get lidar for RC at one point, but wasn't having much luck without diving in deeper. It would also only fit on the plot going diagonally from one corner to the other, so not sure how much of a pain that would be to get lined up properly with the lidar data. Anyways, I'm more focused on local stuff these days, so as much as I was inspired by the course, it would just be behind too many projects.

Round of 16, not too bad. I wasn't sure if a flattish course in a valley was going to be able to compete, and for awhile I was pretty sure I wasn't making it out of group stage. So pleasantly surprised. Had I known that I was going to run into meter issues, I likely would do the plot slightly differently with less "neighborhood" at the end of the plot and have a longer valley for the holes to stretch through. Oh well.
It was a fun experience, although I have a hard time seeing another contest in my future. Me and publish deadlines don't get along well.

Now in 2K23!
I think the meter was at 130% when I brought it in. I got it down to 98% whenever the game came out and then collapsed in exhaustion. Finally just booted it back up and fixed a few holes, and tried to cover up all of the stuff I had to remove so you couldn't tell.
