Timelines and requirements:
This contest is designed with Challenge Circuit level courses in mind, and will be judged with that in mind. There isn't an exact difficulty you need to aim at, but easier is generally better. 7,800 yard US Open courses are probably going to lose some points in judging. When submitting, please let us know which tee set you would like to use for judging. The contest tees do not have to be the back tees. Additionally, we will be doing required elements again this year. The designer should select 4 of the lsited elements to include in their course. Including more than 4 is absolutely allowed, however we will only be judging 4, so pick the the 4 you think highlights your course the best when submitting your entry. Once you are signed up, you are allowed to start your course. Submission window is open as of 7/16. Deadline is 8/30.
Required Elements:
At least one driveable par 4
At least one par 3 greater than 230 yards At least one par 3 shorter than 125 yards At least two holes with zero bunkers A shared green (2 holes using the same green site) A double green (A hole having two different green sites) At least one blind tee shot
Four green sites each within 200 yards of each other. Measure from inside edge of each green (i.e. closest point to the others).
At least three par 4s under 400 yards
At least one three shot par 5
At least one template hole of your choice (please specify template used and provide a real world example!)
At least five par 5 holes
At least five par 3 holes
Total course yardage no greater than 6900
Either hole one or hole eighteen to be a par 3
Entire course to be contained in square/rectangular 1,000,000 yard area (e.g. 1000x1000, 800x1250 etc). Set a perimeter early. Back to back par 3s or par 5s At least two holes with a center-line hazard (tree, bunker, etc) Augusta bunker challenge (no more than 22 bunkers on the course)

quick clarifying question regarding "center line hazard". Do you mean a hazard that is surrounded by fairway, or would a sahara-style bunker (like 7 at Pine Valley or 3 at Fenway) constitute one? Thanks! |

Thanks! The intention is something in the line of play that you can play left or right of. Generally this means it's surrounded by fairway, but if you have an alternative that you think fits the same strategic idea, go for it. |
