Welcome to The Flamingo, a custom designed project for Golf Goodr by special request, featuring characteristics asked for by the company, and embellished by the creative minds of mayday_golf83 and VctryLnSprts.
A couple months ago Victor Lane was approached by the brand manager of the golf division of Goodr to see if a custom designed project could be created to host the grand opening of a new 2K society run by Golf Goodr. He said that he’d be happy to create what they needed, and asked if he could include mayday_golf83 and Terry Grayson on the project as well, which they were happy to agree with. Unfortunately real life circumstances led to Terry being unable to commit the time to the course, so Evangelist Golf Club co-creators handled the job.
The task was to make a Miami-based tournament course playing to a par 69 that offered a challenging experience from the back tees and an approachable golf course from the middle tees, while also filling the course with bright colors that represented the GolfGoodr brand.
VctryLnSprts started the original plot by focusing on a Miami Beach theme with the city in the background, but Mayday quickly said “hold my pina colada,” (or beer in his case). He took the file and reshaped the plot into a flamingo, and suggested the routing be 100% inside the bird’s figure. After seeing what he did to remaster VctryLnSprts’ routing on Evangelist, who was he to argue?! From there they took turns creating a few holes each until all 18 were drafted in, at which point they built the beach and a boardwalk, Victor played with buildings & boats for a while, created a shipping dock, and Mayday polished it off with a gorgeous marina and a park on the northern end.
From there the hard work began as Mayday worked his architectural magic on each of the holes to perfect the sculpting & sightlines and build phenomenal retaining walls. VctryLnSprts then pinned the greens, planted the vibrant colors on the course (pink, duh), and worked in the tournament objects. From there it was playtesting and fine tuning, and creating a couple Easter Eggs built by Mayday that will blow your mind.
The Flamingo is meant to be enjoyed by all, give players a chance to make birdies, eagles, and maybe even a few flamingos along the way (what GolfGoodr calls bogeys), but hopefully it’s just a fun experience with plenty of eye candy too.
