Most par 4 cannot be reached in two shots with medium difficulty clubs from the white tees.

It seems to me that most of the tournament courses picked for the Beer League are not chosen with a great deal of thought. Some of the greens are ridiculous with the waves and slopes, some of the holes are too long for most players to have a chance at a birdie or better. I have seen nicer courses picked in the upper tours that I wish we had to play on. I know it is hard to pick courses for the Beer League and they are all volunteers but sometimes I feel as if the Beer League is a non entity as here you all are, you can't play with master difficulty and you don't have a World Ranking. Don't get me wrong I enjoy playing in the Beer League with all my fellow Beer Leaguers and I enjoy the competition.

Most par 4 cannot be reached in two shots with medium difficulty clubs from the white tees. This is simply not true. I don't have the longest clubs in my bag and yes on the front nine there are three or four holes that I required approaches of around 200 yards that does not make them unreachable (I played medium winds from the south). The 9th was the only hole where I needed a 250 yard approach which didn't get to the pin at the back as I missed slightly right. You completely ignore the two drivable par fours, three more that require only a wedge and a couple of reachable par-5s. Sweeping generalisation on your part but I will defend your right to express your view wholeheartedly. nunzio0108 you do realise that the Beer league scheduler plays the Beer League tournaments as part of the Brew Crew don't you?

Don't get me wrong I enjoy playing in the Beer League with all my fellow Beer Leaguers and I enjoy the competition. Disagree entirely. I know for a fact that the Scheduler gives up loads of his own time, and together with the Rangers who are also volunteers, ensures the Beer League has courses that are suitable. The Beer League has been treated to some top level courses by elite designers. Not sure what more you want to be honest. Some of the courses on the upper tours have far more challenging greens that the Beer Leaguers have to contend with. TGCT had to make a decision, they put the hours in and it's their call. They at least made sure there was a place for Pro level players to take part. They didn't have to. The only criticism I would have is that it would be nice for the Beer League to be flighted. But again, that causes more work for people who already put a great deal of time into the Tour probably at the expense of being able to play themselves. As for World Ranking, how can you have one of those when you are playing a totally different level to those that have a ranking???

What does that mean that The Beer scheduler plays Beer League tournaments as part of the Brew Crew? I would expect that he would play the courses he chooses. Look I am just stating my opinion on the Beer League.

Look I am just stating my opinion on the Beer League. My apologies for a slightly inelegant answer to your assertion that the courses are scheduled with little or no thought. The scheduler spends time looking at and playing courses before putting them to the Rangers for further playtesting. After all pin sets are played by at least one Ranger he may check any issues that might have arisen and then schedules the course. I was referring to the fact that he also participates in the tournament each week, although a member of another tour, which allows him to see how the course plays and allows some feedback.

This was in a practice where I had 13-15 mile per hour winds in my face though.

It's almost impossible to make a driver/3 wood hole that isn't unreachable in high winds from a certain direction. Then the "test for par" is position of the 2nd to allow your birdie shot the best chance at finishing close. If a designer avoids that, too many of a course's 4s become "wedge in" in favorable winds. Played one of those the other day, any drive over 280 was no more than 8I left. Became one-dimensional play on an otherwise lovely course.

Also... any of you designers out there who aren’t aware... if your course is played on a tour event...the hole by hole stats are a great resource for getting some useful feedback on how each hole is playing.... such as the average score in each hole, how many aces, eagles etc.... fantastic resource... www.tgctours.com/tournament/holebyholestats/5935
