I was doing fine with 68, 67 and a 69 and then started Rd 4 with -9.....I got an eagle on Hole 2 to get to -11and thought I was going to have a nice low round and get into the top 15 and then the wheels came off. On hole 5 with the wind heading towards the water and that tough tee shot with water on the left my drive looked ok and then finds the water. I shoot my 3rd and again it goes into the drink. My 5th is on the fairway and then I send my approach into the water. I stumbled out with a freaking 9 on that hole and had 3 birds after to wipe some of that off and then get 2 more water balls and get 2 doubles to ruin my recovery. My early eagle turns into a debacle and I finish with a 78 and my final score of -2. I left my clubs and got out of there fast. The lesson I learned is to never get too relaxed and respect the wind when playing around water. And don’t let a water ball turn into a damn 9. Losing 5 shots on one hole is a tourney wrecker when you are at -11 and with still 16 holes left and a possible top 15 as I was looking for -15 at worst.

Pretty much nailed it williamwes626 . A few notes to add: 5, 6, 10 - pin position may slightly alter whether you want to be left side or right side of the fairway to give the best line in past the greenside bunkers 18 - pin two is just make par and move on - hard to get within 20 feet. Big kicker slope short right that provides a great way to access pin 1 (and 3, although you want to choose your landing spot with care). Pin 4, although the longest, is probably the easiest. 12 - comfortably the hardest hole on the course with the pins on the right IMO. Make three and move on. Hope you all enjoy. The greens are pretty gentle, but you'll need to be in the right spot off the tee to set up those good looks on the approaches. Bailing to the fat part of the fairway often leads to a slightly trickier approach. Thanks Ben, I didn't get to chance last week to write back - yes a real fun course but also a bit scary which is a cool mix to have. Finished 55th in my division. I'm glad you were okay with the notes since I never want to misrepresent the course or its intentions and you know the course like the other architects inside and out. And glad you pointed out the pin position inside info. I watched a bit of its creation on Twitch and your playthru so I could get a better sense of it. Great stuff.
