Perhaps I haven't looked close enough but I'm not quite sure exactly how the promo/demo lines are determined.
On the info page it says:
Above double promotion line = +2 movement marks
Above single promotion line = +1 movement mark
Below single demotion line = -1 movement mark
Below double demotion line = -2 movement marks
But is there any explanation as to what determines where that line is? I though it was top 10 for +2marks and top 10 for +1marks but it doesn't always appear that way.
Any how, anyone know the answer?

It is not exact, for folks on the edge, they do a little bit of discretion I believe (in the players favor in my experience).

Thank you very much!

Plus you can shoot lights out and finish 2nd but are way ahead of the field and you will see that little lightning bolt instead of a promo mark and get moved up to the next flight as well.

Is this true for the pro tours or only promo marks get you moved up? Pro tours (except Platinum) move up based on promotion points or for winning a week. I don't think I have seen a lightening bolt for them, but it could because they are a tightly bunched group and it is not likely to be "way ahead" of the field.

Pro tours you can only move with Promo Marks. Winning an event does not automatically move you up.

I've been trying to put together a spreadsheet to track my results and whether or not I'm likely to be in the frame for 1, 2 or no promo/demo marks each week, and I've been using the 7.5% and 15% marks for calculation purposes. So my sub-query is whether those percentages are based on the entire field including those who missed the cut, or just the total number of players who made the cut. Thanks for any clarification anyone can provide! Nigel

Nigel Just one man’s interpretation, but it’s based on the field size after the completion of two rounds and establishment of the cut line, which includes those who miss the cut. Will happily stand corrected if I’m mistaken.

Appreciated.

It goes by % of field size after the event completes. So you can be in line for a promotion mark but like 4 people who made the cut don't finish r3&4 so you get bumped down because the field size changes when they get a DNF. Happened to a buddy in CC a couple times.

Yeah it's tough when you miss a promotion mark like this. I've kinda got used to it though, lol
