Has the cutline been deduced yet? still shellshocked at my capiluation. Love to know of the winds people had on round 2. 10-14 i had. Im sounding like monty now but im suprised the scoring is so low it was hardest ive played yet Looking like -11, maybe -12 A lot of scores came early when the winds were low I believe. I played my first shot in the second round at 5mph. A day later I came back to 12-15mph winds. That could be construed as me being a wind waiter. Only I was waiting for higher winds. Extreme golf, yo!

i never liked this version, prolly the only one, but nevertheless I did not find it finishable, so I chipped so I did not have to continue. Yep, you are the only one!

Why did u chip? Having a bad round and got angry? Threw in the towel? Surely wasn't a mistake! Hit a good shot into the center of green, bounced and rolled less than 10feet from the back of the green, then to a left turn and it stopped off the front of the green, not my cup of tea there. I'm not going to finish any more tournys were good shots are repelled like that shot was. i never liked this version, prolly the only one, but nevertheless I did not find it finishable, so I chipped so I did not have to continue. I find it a bit odd that the person who gave us Kodiak Reserve and got extremely defensive during the Original Q school when anyone pissed and moaned about it would pick their ball up and walk off. This was what you posted back then, guess it only applies to your course though: "why the hell does it matter where the pin is? what you are trying to do is get a green in regulation, not a hole out. its ridiculous to think you should be able to get it within a few feet of the flag stick on every approach, its not reasonable, nor is it realistic. the greens on most courses hold fine, I can play wendys course (son gual) all day long and expect to get 75%+ GIR's, the greens hold if you play them for what they are. the problem i see more often than others is holes that are just too long for their par, making GIR impossible under stiff winds, or having to use a wood just for a chance at getting it there, the other is breaks so cartoonish, a mower could not even mow the green if it were real without some fancy attachments. there is nothing wrong with one or two very long holes vs their par ratings, but some courses extend this to half the course. to all those who are having troubles holding the greens, i say this: stop going for the pin on every hole, and then learn how to putt. course management is your best friend. learn it, live it, love it." Probably the real reason you bailed was because Steve2Golf and Brighttail were beating you?

I was -8 thru 13 and got complacent. Miscalculated distance at #14 and 3 putted. Played a very poor flop shot at #15 and pared. Had a 6 foot putt on #16 which took off like rocket, not to the left and down but to the right?? 3 putted bogey. Pared 17 and 18 for a -6. -17 will make the cut but I can't help but feel I really let 3-4 EASY EASY strokes just slip away there in a 5 hole span. Ah well, it is Magnolia after all. 16 is evil. I had about a 8 footer, and it just keep going and going and went right off the green, I then could not get it back up to get close to putt it out. Now I understand this is the masters.......but come on! The firmness could have been dialed down a bit to not let that happen. I think I took a fricken 7 on that hole because of that crap after having a 7 or 8 foot birdie putt

Well I finally had some time to get my rounds in. Was having trouble in my practice rounds getting to 10-under so it was no surprise to me that I only managed to get to 32-under for the tournament. Had at least 3 water balls, 2 shanks off tees into trees and 1 oops where I chipped from 75 yards instead of pitched. Countless other shots that were either 2 yards too short or 2 yards too far which left me dangerous putts. Sure, there were a few good shots in there - one teaser on 2 as I pitched from about 45 yards, over the lip and then the backspin ended right back on the lip. I'll post that beauty later on. Anyways, good shooting to all those above me - really had to be on your game for all 4 rounds to make a run at the leaders.

Finished my two rounds at a disappointing rate. I had been playing so well last few days, scoring the course record on one of the days even.. Started off with a weird bogey where I experienced for the first time what i think was ball squirt on a putt. I have no other explanation how it took off right when the break was left. Managed to fight back but #7 killed me. Second shot on the green, putted and burned the edge which seemed to cause it to pick up speed and that slow trickle into the front bunker. 3rd shot barely didn't make the hill and back at my feet. 4th shot i got on but was very far away. 5th shot left the putt short on a huge breaker, 6th shot miss, and finally a triple bogey. That is how quickly this course can turn on you.
Managed to card a -3 and knew I was out of any contention so finished my fourth round but my heart was not in it. -6 in the end. -26 over all.
Good luck Steve!

Sergio just pitched it 4 ft away with a 9 iron @ 6 and it rolled right on back off the green. You don't always get what you deserve in this game

I watched phil hit a 3iron for #15 and it hit and stuck on the green .. like 2 feet of roll.

The TGC golfer is designed to be a half decent amateur, hence we can only drive it 270 and not 320 and why can't get a 3 iron to stop dead Magnolia isn't firm. It's the slopes that kill you (if you put it in the wrong place)

And Magnolia isn't exactly firm either it is medium firm AT best. the slopes are what kills you and possibly the green speed if you catch those slopes the wrong way. there is nothing unfair or unrealistic about the greens or the course

The pins aren't on impossible slopes so it's fine. And I'm pretty sure the firmness is medium-hard with fast greens .
