New graphics card arrives tomorrow. I have lots of planting to finish, but if all goes well with the new card, I'll be finished by the end of next week. For now...

Barnegat Bay Golf - The Hamptons of New Jersey
Nearly two years ago, the German real estate mogul Fritz Bigunzemony purchased 600 acres of unspoiled shore land near Holly Park, NJ. His goal was to put at least two golf courses on the property in an effort to bring the North Shore of the Hamptons to south Jersey (the courses not the people). The North Shore is, of course, home to several excellent golf courses, including two of the best in the world; Schinnecock Hills and the National Golf Links of America. Thrown in Jack Nicklaus' Sebonic and you have a stretch of coastal golf similar to Monterey in California.
To design the first two courses, the German chose eclectic golf architect, and former NJ resident, Chuck Gunsaullus. While his time was mostly spent in North Jersey (see Plainfield Country Club), Gunsaullus jumped at the chance to design on a wonderful piece of land along the coast. He would name the property Barnegat Bay Golf, a name borrowed from a course he designed in 2001 that won him a design contest for an old computer game, PGA2000. The flagship course would be called Barnegat Bay Golf Links, and it opens later this week.
For this course, he used the inspiration of McDonald's (the architect, not the arches) National Golf Links of America. While the course is not entirely made of template holes, there are several that are noticeable; knoll, reverse redan, punchbowl, alps, maiden, narrows, and cape to name a few. The building of the course went very smoothly with only a few alterations to his original plans. The 17th was slightly shortened and converted into a long par-4. The 6th was cut down into a short par-4 due to the unplanned similarity to the 8th. Several greens were rebuilt after construction, and several areas of the course were re-bunkered.
The second course on the property remains under construction. This will be the Barnegat Bay Country Club. Currently construction is halted indefinitely due to COVID-19. Eventually there will be condos and a couple of hotels so get out there and play the Links course before they blot out the beautiful views of the ocean and the Barnegat Bay Lighthouse.

I don't mind being outdone by Craig's gorgeous course photos, but I'll at least try. I don't think I'll be able to publish this week. Have to go out of town this weekend. Here come some glamour shots:

Don't forget the form, and we'll get this out to the judges.
