Hello chaps and chappettes, I'm looking for someone who are willing and able to act as a "mentor" of sorts to help me develop as a course designer. Someone, obviously, better than me. Someone who I could help me look over the courses I'm making and sort of help me as to what things I'm doing good, the things I'm doing bad, etc. It's by no means a full-time job but rather once every now and then pop in and give me some feedback on my progress. Not quite sure how it would work exactly, but I'd wager that the best idea is to use the direct messaging service here on the forum, me posting betas on the course I'm making, and taking it from there. I've released two courses so far, the first one was absolutely horrible, the second one was better but not quite there, and I'm currently working on a few more. The best part of being new in the design game is that you develop so much that by the time you've finished a course you almost want to tear it up and start anew since you've learned so much new stuff or improved your skills in different areas. Any takers?

Not exactly mentor quality, but happy to play betas & give feedback here or in PM.
I'd suggest trying 1 or 2 of my courses, see if you think I can help ... maybe Aaron Park or the less conventional FLeming River. Both are 'accepted', but not really tour material. My most recent is Murray's Spring, which had a couple of flaws, but plays nicely, imo.
I'm not as critical as some ... or as good a golfer.

Might be a mile of the mark here or you may not to want to design a real course,i reckon a great place to start these days is download a bit of Lidar terrain this is just a local course in england, from the photo's it gives you the green positions, bunker positions etc and where the water streams are, would be a great way to learn i reckon how the designer and how some of the things work, all you need is google earth and the measure tool to produce a lovely local little course. Also i reckon its nice to create your own style of course best advice i reckon is just take your time no need to rush a course out.

Stream your designing on Twitch/YouTube, watch other designers on Twitch/YouTube, ask questions on this forum, post pictures of your works in progress, register for design competitions. If you’re active in the design community, you’ll get help from many great designers instead of just one

Ha. I've had this thought. I'm absolutely addicted, but definitely not at the level I would like... I've even been like "sh%$... I'd pay for 1-on-1 lessons (just like golf lessons) for help!" 🤣 I may need to put the game down for a bit 🤣🤣

Hey guys there is a designers Facebook page I would suggest you get involved in. As a newer designer myself this is a great way to network and we will be having a competition soon. It will give you great practice while talking to other designers who can hopefully help you build your strengths get better with designing.
