Since it can be a bit of an easter egg hunt if you're newer to the designer or the forums I figured it would be good to have a list in one place of helpful youtube channels for designers. Feel free to post more and I'll update the OP. As it took me a little time to find all these i'm sure it will help, especially because it was brought up earlier.

THANK YOU! I was trying to find their channels after reading the other thread and couldn’t find most of them. Saved a lot of time.

I also want to add, once you get comfortable with the tools (even before you've gotten really good at using them) course critiques are invaluable. Starting a course and practicing with the tools and techniques in the videos above is good and all, but if you don't have an understanding of what makes up a good course, your efforts in the designer would be for naught. It takes a lot of time to make a good course, as well as a lot of time to learn the designer, so you might as well do both at once.

This is really helpful, thanks for putting it together! Right now I find myself able to create tgc approved courses steadily but ones that aren’t near tour worthy status(also only 1 with enough plays to reach HCP so far). Wanting to try to make that jump and looking for some videos to help me along. Previously I had only watched canucks series and I started to watch the Joy of Planting which I really am enjoying. Am open to suggestions for any other series for someone more advanced than beginner but still a ways from making courses of the highest quality. Will certainly start watching some critiques more often, I like that thought as well.

Will certainly start watching some critiques more often, I like that thought as well. The "Joy of Planting" is great. Matt ( mattf27) does a great job of articulating his thoughts while designing. He also streams design quite a bit and has a good taste in music. There are others that stream their designs frequently that are just as good. You've seen Andre's ( crazycanuck) videos but he adds more in his twitch streams. Another good follow is Eric ( VctryLnSprts). He streamed a lot of his wcod course and does a really good job of talking through his thoughts. Im sure he'll stream his major and cc😜 courses as well. Ben ( b101) also streams quite a bit. He has a great knowledge of golf course architecture and translates it well to the game. There are others that I am sure i'll remember after I hit "post" but that'll get you started. And they're all tagged so hopefully they'll post links to their twitch streams (my next project is gathering a comprehensive list of streamers).

Admittedly the early "Joy of Planting" episodes I was trying different stuff format-wise. The ones that are just me designing and thinking aloud tend to be some of the later ones, as well as the random design streams (which don't make it to youtube). Thinking I might try to get more regular with Joy of Planting episodes, but I gotta get back into it and see what formats work.

You could just do a 6 hr video of you talking your way through sculpting and framing bunkers and we'd all be better off for it.

I was a big fan of the Joy of Planting when you had the guest on to explain things (even when it was Terry being five minutes behind), but appreciate that the format is really difficult to manage. I wonder whether a better way of doing it might be you just on mic and collabing to email the file back and forth? I'd certainly be up for something like that so you can see both takes.
Appreciate the tag by the way, Justin. Mine are definitely going to be more of the 'thought process and explain why I'm doing things' variety than the technical stuff. There's some of that, too, but I think this plays more to my strengths.

b101 Are you suggesting a new collab project? Where both people work on every hole and just pass it back and forth. Because I would be all for watching that play out. Or were you thinking just someone sending their completed course and having Matt improve on it? Either way I'm tuned in.

Something like that, yeah - would need to be a joint venture really with some sort of shared Twitch channel and I dunno whether you could splice together the video. The original Joy of Planting series started with mattf27 working on a hole whilst others talked him through. I could see something where one person lays out an idea then sends it over for someone else to build on, but whilst both are in chat. Potentially tricky to pull off, but could be cool.

I'd be down for giving it a shot. And I know you can "share" twitch channels, as they did that with TGCTours official twitch account, so that should be doable.
