Ryland Heath is a heathland course established in 1925, it is located in the county of Surrey, England. It is situated alongside other great courses in this area such as, Sunningdale, Walton Heath, St. Georges Hill and Woking, just to name a few. Ryland Heath offers 3 sets of teeing grounds and measures out a tad bit over 7400 yards from the Black (or back) markers. With a par of 72, the two nines are unbalanced, with the outward half having a par 35 and the inward nine a par 37. Each putting surface offers 4 sets of pin locations and will give golfers a challenge if they are on the wrong side of the hole cut for that day. The course house was built in 1645, it was already located on the site before the golf course existed. It was home too many wealthy families and in 1922, Sir Robert James decided to build a golf course on his property. Sir Robert hired a local architect who surveyed the land and designed the holes we see today. As a side note to the history at Ryland, it is noted that between the years of 1942-44, the golf course was closed, as many in the area, due to the war efforts. The clubhouse was used as a war hospital. But in return, when patrons finally returned to the course, the unkept grounds, except some mowing on the short grass surfaces, it had taken on a whole new appearance, as the long grasses grew and the heather flourished and that is what we see today on the beautiful grounds of Ryland Heath. No specific settings. Play golf. Enjoy!

Thank God Jerry Shields tutorials has whipped these rookies into shape. It used to only be Ben and Andre these guys had to turn to.

That cover photo looks really nice. Great editing. Course looks pretty good too. Can't wait to give it a play later on tonight. Good luck in the contest.

Rookie design? Really? The release of Peninsula Kingswood, a local sandbelt track not too far from home, by Heisenberg resulted in a visit to the toilet to... umm... pleasure one's self and now this! scottish67 you have a lot to answer for. [smiley face with winking eye emoji]

Congrats on a great course sir. The images used in the thread look great and the course looked just as good too. I particularly liked the planting and the colour used throughout as well as the little cottages and off course attention to detail. Well done once again.

Rookie? Really? Flippin' heck, looks amazing! I've played a few of the British heathlands before and this, while a little more dramatic, looks absolutely amazing! Great job, well done.

This looks exceptional for a Rookie, an actual rookie, not like those so called "rookies" from previous comps... Give KEG and DAM a miss and come and sit in the Golden Age corner, you'll fit right in.
