As I'm judging, centre-line bunkers are banned for all of you. Have fun. Update: centre-line bunkers are still out Have they ever been in?

I messed around in the designer for 3 hours yesterday and hated everything I built. It's going great. 3 Hours? Pfft. Rookie.

Where are all the wip threads you cowards!?!?! We 'at-large' designers would never start a WIP thread before the field is announced. Bad ju-ju. (and not the kind where a dude dances on a logo and gets destroyed). Duh.

Oh my god I actually have to build a course now? I am, of course, honored to receive an exemption and promise not to waste it but this will be an exercise in "How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb."

this will be an exercise in "How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb." Thought that was what Golden Isles Beach Club was all about?

GIBC was about purely about inflicting pain upon others - Sadism (mixed results). **** ****** ***** is all about inflicting pain upon myself - Masochism (guaranteed).

Designer WGR explained:
This is the formula we'll be using to select the 12 at-large qualifiers, and then seed the overall field of 32 ahead of the draw show. It takes into account participation and performance in previous official TGCT design contests as well as the quality and quantity of one's design portfolio. The formula is weighted as such: 50% Season 6/7 contest results, 25% Season 5 contest results, 25% design portfolio. A perfect score would be fractionally higher than 40 points. For each design contest one enters, up to 10 points are possible for finishing first (100th percentile), and going down from there based on one's finish relative to the total number of entrants. For events, such as World Cup, with a bracket-type elimination system, ties are credited by the average finishing position of those tied. So for example, those eliminated in the round of 16 (positions 9-16) would get credited with a finish of 12.5. Since results for Dream Team and Rookie are still pending, all participants received 5 points for DT participation and 2.5 points for Rookie participation. For design portfolio, I simply searched your name in the TGCT designer database, which gives me your total number of approved courses and, of those, how many have been deemed tour worthy or ended up on tour. In the instance of collabs, if multiple designers are listed, both get credit for the course. For instance, jwfickett & gamesdecent both receive credit for Sweetens Cove as they're both listed as designers of record in the database. So to get one's DWGR, here's what's applied. Best two scores from Season 6/7 contests + (0.5 * Best two scores from Season 5 contests) + Approved courses (capped at a max of 10) * tour worthy or on tour courses (whichever number is greater) / total approved courses + (0.01 * On tour courses) As a quick exercise. Using this formula, here are the top eight players in this year's field, all of whom will be guaranteed not to face each other in group stage. ** For easier reference I have also added this info to the 2021 TGCT World Cup of Design Rules & Info thread.

Designer WGR explained:
This is the formula we'll be using to select the 12 at-large qualifiers ... Ok, so I may have just completely misinterpreted your post in the signup thread from a while back, the one that started with "Start your bulldozers" and tagged a bunch of is. I took that to mean the people who had been tagged were "officially" going to be in the contest. Upon a second reading, I'm pretty sure I wildly misread that message/post, would that be an accurate statement? I didn't bother to consider counting the number of guys you'd tagged, but I'm now thinking it was literally just everyone had had "registered" at that point...
Without participating in any season 6 or 7 contests, seems pretty damn unlikely that I (or others who haven't participated in recent years' contests) would get in via "at-large," if I'm understanding your DWGR formula correctly - which is a stretch, as we've already proven my reading comprehension is suspect at best when it comes to this ordeal. That sound about right? No grudge to be had about it or upset feelings at all, just trying to get an idea of what to expect since I've been grinding away at a course for this contest under what I'm now pretty sure was an incorrect assumption that I'd already been granted a spot.
...which definitely doesn't make me feel like a dumbass at all...oops.

I like what you’ve done with this metric. This is a good metric. All in.
