I bet some of these 9 hole courses will shine brighter than some of the WCOD courses will, definitely not trying to allude to how badly my WCOD project is coming along, not at all. All if definitely going smoothly..........yeah

Considering I haven’t even started yet, I’m pretty sure chaos is coming for me.

Really sorry guys but I haven’t got to a point where I’m confident that I’ll get my course completed on time with 6-7weeks to go, I feel it best to step aside and let one of the reserves take my place in the contest proper and have informed mayday_golf83 . I’ve been pretty busy with work of late and outside of that RL duties have also eaten into my time to work on the course as much as I need to up to this point. I’d hate to keep pressing on and come to a point where it wouldn’t be fair to myself or others to put out a course that didn’t get the attention it requires. It’s not how I operate or how I want things to end up being. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be apart of this contest but at this point in time it’s for the best that I step aside. I wish everyone the best for the remainder of the contest and look forward to seeing everyone’s creations.

Per the rules, he won't be eligible for National Treasure, but I appreciate him being forthright about it. gcsinsane you're in and taking Rod's spot. Heisenberg you're on deck should anyone else need to bow out.

mayday_golf83 - I had a thought for any future comps when you need 4-5 alternates. Could you consider offering one less starting place and then asking the alternates to complete their course one week prior to the deadline? The organisers could then select just one of the alternates to take the "wildcard" spot while the other alternates remain in the order selected should others drop out? Just a thought to give the alternates a greater incentive and 'carrot' to complete a good course. I'd imagine that could work in any comp with limited spaces. Thoughts?

Speaking as a former contest judging coordinator, the only drawback of this proposal is that it requires the judges to play even more courses (which is the reason we have to limit field sizes to begin with). With the side contest here, the contest participants are judging, so the panel doesn't get overburdened.

It could be as arbitrary as just the organiser playing the 4-5 courses (or however many were left as alternates by the deadline) over the space of that extra week and picking their favourite. Anyway - was just a thought for the future organisers
