Hope all is well. I’ve glanced around this part of the board and sorry if it’s been asked before but I really couldn’t find what I was looking for. I know very little when it comes to Lidar/open street. From what I can understand from looking around is open street is basically getting the course you want copied over as a layout and lidar pulls the elevation info is that correct?
I’d there anywhere I could get a good tutorial on getting stared and what to expect? Would very much I like to design or make a few real courses I grew up playing mainly Southern Trace Country Club in Shreveport, La and City course called Huntington Park. Will be getting my computer set up soon so hoping to get a better idea on what I need to do to get started. Thanks on advance!

Hi Eric, glad to see you're interested in lidar. I would suggest 2 things. First of all, for an overview of the process, check out this link to the TGT Tool that Chad created: TGC ToolSecond of all, if you search youtube for lidar king, golf club 2019 lidar, etc you will find videos showing the basic process as well. Be aware that as of now the tool only works with TGC2019 directly, so you need that to create a course and then port it into 2K21. There is a work around posted on this site somewhere but I haven't tried using it. If you run into to trouble, there are plenty of designers here that are willing to help or you can message me if you would like. I haven't published as many lidar courses as others, but I did do Austin Country Club and Colonial Country Club, both of which have been used on TGTTours. Good luck.

That should read "create a course in TGC2019 and then port it into 2K21." Sorry for any confusion.

The only elevation data available is DEM 5 meter with 2 foot contours which will not work for making golf courses in the game. However, if you are really committed to making these courses, you can still trace the course in Openstreetmaps and then import this data as a flat terrain file that you will need to manually sculpt in the designer.

Thanks guys! That’s unfortunate their is no data for Louisiana but somehow that doesn’t surprise me. I love sculpting and lime to think I’m actually pretty good at it so guess I’ll have to try to remember my best memories of the courses. Lol about to get a computer so guess that part of having to put both games sucks. Oh well love the designer so guess I’ll have to do it. Lol thanks again!

HoneyBadgerHacker as you already know, I recreated the course that you mentioned, the one that you worked at and where I grew up playing at back in the 70s, Huntington Park GC (LiDAR) ... Mal's comment had me stumped for a minute LOL but it appears the LiDAR data for this area was updated 1/29/21 and you know how well it turned out* so you have no excuse to not try designing again. Huntington Park GC (LiDAR) www.tgctours.com/Course/Details/25491?PlayerId=42157BTW: IMO Huntington today is pretty tame, it needs about another 400-450ish yards which is doable by moving the par 5 tip tees back and I had a longer version made but changed it back to be able to submit it here and it needs some sand traps like it had back in it's early days before the city took it over. I think it's original name was Red Fox Trail. I know you have some ideas on what would make a better version, there was something that you mentioned was off about the driving range or houses near that and I'd love to get your input. Maybe we could get together on my Discord server, I could share my screen so we can fly (I'm on a PC) around and look at things. *That was my first course, I've gotten better since then.

So they got lidar data now!? That’s awesome! I’m also getting my computer up and running in a couple of weeks so will be planning on doing some Lidar possibly soon on Southern Trace. Your take on Huntington was pretty well from what I remember. Only thing that stood out that wasn’t right was that there wasn’t a fence all the way around the front nine on the left side. Other than that was done nice!

Hurry up and get that thing running, i've never played it but I want to take a eLap on Southern Trace. I didn't know that you did Sandy Boots, my group of players and I enjoyed that track and will try the others soon. Speaking of that, I've got 9 guys on my Discord server, most play pretty regularly on PC and we don't quit midgame like some random knuckleheads do ... hollar! I also know a place to get the game on the cheap when you get ready, if you don't have it already.

I’ve outlined most everything in OSM but it’s not carrying over with fairways etc. not sure what I’m doing wrong. What is the Epsg ? I put 3451. Think the Lidar came over fine but again the fairways, greens, tees did not. That is all I marked do I have to mark holes maybe?

I guess I probably do need to label each hole now that I’ve researched it a little more.

The EPSG should be 26915 Go ahead and finish addingthe Hole Numbers

Where did you find the EPSG? Think I may have figured out my problem. I only downloaded the laz files and not both the laz and meta xml files. Trying this again! What a learning experience! 😁

All you need is the laz files. Go ahead and finish adding the Hole Numbers Maybe it was because I didn’t have the right Epsg? I used that and now see the green spots where the holes are. Is that because it’s the right Epsg or has both laz and meta? So once I go back and add the rest of the holes it should carry over into the game when I export? Assuming everything goes smooth? Thanks for helping !

I believe using the right EPSG is what did it, I've never had to DL the metadata. If you see an edit from a DSanchez, that's me. All I did was add the outline around the course to tell that it is Southern Trace.
