Event 26 - 2000 CANON GREATER HARTFORD OPEN at TPC River Highlands - Round 1
With a stiff breeze and fast greens we didn't know quite what to expect today. It soon became apparent that the pin position on the 10th hole was going to be a problem. Bob Fletcher carded a quadruple there, and it could have been worse, on his way to a frustrating 73. Ian McKinley struggled in with an even par 70, while Les Souter's fighting 68 left him 4 strokes off the leading group at the close. Anything could still happen...

Event 26 - 2000 CANON GREATER HARTFORD OPEN at TPC River Highlands - Round 2
Just a light breeze for today's round, but the greens were ultra-fast. Bob Fletcher's putter was only slightly erratic and some good strokes with the flat stick helped him to a fine 66. Ian McKinley also improved on his opening round by shooting a 68 which saw him one stroke ahead of Bob but still way down the leaderboard. Last week's winner of the FedEx St Jude Classic, Les Souter, rediscovered that top form to record the equal best round of the day, a very adept 64. Les is three shots off the pace at halfway and well-positioned to make a weekend charge...

Event 26 - 2000 CANON GREATER HARTFORD OPEN at TPC River Highlands - Round 3
The wind was stronger but overnight showers meant that the greens wouldn't be as quick as in previous rounds. Bob Fletcher climbed several places up the leaderboard courtesy of his second 66 of the week, so he remains one stroke behind Ian McKinley who also carded a fine 66. Ian is level with Charlie Roberts who added an admirable 65 to his earlier rounds of 71 and 68. At the start of play Les Souter was three shots adrift of the leaders. At the close of play he'd reduced that deficit to just one shot after a stellar 62. Outright leader Mark Calcavecchia's 64 was just enough to keep his nose out in front, and tomorrow promises to provide an exciting finale...

Event 26 - 2000 CANON GREATER HARTFORD OPEN at TPC River Highlands - Round 4
Potentially the toughest round of the week, with strong, gusting winds, fast putting surfaces, and some difficult pins. Ian McKinley succumbed to the conditions and carded an uncharacteristic 73 to end the week tied last. Charlie Roberts' second 68 of the event saw him finish with a share of 20th spot, and he even managed to birdie the 10th hole with its' frightening pin placement. Unexpectedly, Bob Fletcher produced his best golf of the tourney and was rewarded with a bogey-free 65, which also included a birdie on the terrifying 10th green. Bob's performance earned him a share of 13th place, something he had not anticipated after a nervy opening round. Going into today Les Souter had a very realistic chance of making it two wins in as many weeks. However, Les could only muster a round of 70, a triple bogey on that 10th hole not helping his cause at all. He had to make do with a 3rd place tie with tour pro Kirk Triplett, whose incredible 61 yesterday was the best round of the tournament. Last week Notah Begay lost in a play-off to Les, but this week he was not to be denied, his scintilating 64 today overhauling overnight leader Mark Calcavecchia by a single stroke.

Event 27 - 2000 ADVIL WESTERN OPEN at Cog Hill (Dubsdread) - Round 1
It was pretty windy out there for the opening round, and the greens were quick. Bob Fletcher was left scratching his head after carding a 75. Whilst he drove the ball well, his approaches were inaccurate and finding sand instead of putting surfaces, and his bunker play was, sadly, not the best. Unfortunately, Ian McKinley's health problems are beginning to badly affect his general play, but he still managed a fighting 73. This course is far from easy, and a guest win looks extremely unlikely so far...

Event 27 - 2000 ADVIL WESTERN OPEN at Cog Hill (Dubsdread) - Round 2
Not much of a breeze for today's play, but a combination of tricky pins and very fast greens would cause varying degrees of heartache for plenty of players. Those included both Bob Fletcher and Ian McKinley who carded a pair of instantly forgetable 75's. Consequently, this duo occupy the bottom two positions on the leaderboard, and the end of the tournament probably can't come quickly enough...

Event 27 - 2000 ADVIL WESTERN OPEN at Cog Hill (Dubsdread) - Round 3
The players arrived at the course to find strong, gusty winds raking across the landscape, so a tough time looked to be in store. The greens were a little slower though, which would help slightly. Bob Fletcher moved off the bottom of the leaderboard by carding a 73, curiously his best round so far this week, leapfrogging Ian McKinley who didn't have the best of times on his way to a 77, two strokes behind Bob. Small consolation was that even Tiger Woods was having a hard time, currently tied 23rd and six strokes off the pace, but I suppose we all have 'off' days, or even weeks...

Event 27 - 2000 ADVIL WESTERN OPEN at Cog Hill (Dubsdread) - Round 4
A strong breeze and fast greens were on the menu for today's play. Bob Fletcher's 72, his best round of the event, and including a finishing streak of 12 pars, was good enough to finish above Ian McKinley. Ian could only muster a 74, and one can only hope that his health problems do not affect his performance too much when The Open Championship begins next week. Even Tiger Woods couldn't get the better of Dubsdread, finishing in a tie for 23rd place, and he will be hoping for greatly improved form for St Andrews. The eventual winner was Robert Allenby, seeing off the challenge of Nick Price on the first play-off hole. Let's hope the guests up their game at Blackwolf Run this week...

Event 28 - 2000 GREATER MILWAUKEE OPEN at Blackwolf Run - Round 1
A very breezy start to the week and quick greens greeted the players today. The greens, although a little problematic, seemed quite fair, but our guests lost the battle on the putting surfaces I think. Ian McKinley is still searching for that early-season form but it continues to evade him, as his opening 75 demonstrated. Bob Fletcher and Les Souter did marginally better, carding a brace of 73's, but a big improvement is required if any of the guests want to feature higher up the leaderboard...

Event 28 - 2000 GREATER MILWAUKEE OPEN at Blackwolf Run - Round 2
The wind dropped a little but some devilish pins and greens like glass provided another stern test today. Bob Fletcher and Ian McKinley produced a pair of 75's, Ian's second 75 of the week. Les Souter fared better with a fighting 71, but all three guests are firmly entrenched at the foot of the leaderboard, and now probably have one eye on next week's British Open Championship...

Event 28 - 2000 GREATER MILWAUKEE OPEN at Blackwolf Run - Round 3
The strong breeze was back making the greens a bit quicker for today's play. Charlie Roberts added a 75 to his two previous rounds of 72, confirming the high difficulty of Blackwolf Run in unfavourable conditions. Ian McKinley's 74 was his best round of the event so far, while Bob Fletcher played reasonably well for his 71, which was his best effort of the week. Meanwhile, at the business end of the leaderboard, tour pro Loren Roberts will carry a 2-stroke advantage into the final round after shooting a magnificent 63 today.

Event 28 - 2000 GREATER MILWAUKEE OPEN at Blackwolf Run - Round 4
Gusting winds and rain made for a tough day's golf, but at least the greens were a little slower. Bob Fletcher lost his mojo completely and signed off with a disastrous 80, and Charlie Roberts didn't do much better when he came in with a 78. Ian McKinley carded a 72, his best round of the week, but that still wasn't enough to stop Les Souter from being the best-performing guest of the event as he finished off with a 74. Loren Roberts completed a convincing 8-stroke win courtesy of a closing 66. None of the guests will be unhappy to be leaving Blackwolf Run behind as they now head off to Scotland for the Open Championship at St Andrews...

Event 29 - 2000 JOHN DEERE CLASSIC at TPC Deere Run - Round 1
Today's conditions looked to be a good opportunity for players to score well and start the week with promise. A light breeze and very fast greens shouldn't have caused too many problems, but only one guest ended the day with any credit. Ian McKinley enjoyed the course, and his clean round, as he posted a fine 66 to trail the early leader by only three strokes. Unfortunately Bob Fletcher (73), Les Souter (75) and Charlie Roberts (81) all looked a little rusty and out of sorts, but the week is young...

Event 29 - 2000 JOHN DEERE CLASSIC at TPC Deere Run - Round 2
The wind increased in intensity during the night so the players faced a stiff breeze today. It also brought rain with it, so the greens were a lot slower, which should have helped with the tough pins. Three guests remain at the base of the leaderboard and slipped further behind the field. Les Souter and Charlie Roberts both carded a 71 to improve on their opening rounds, but they will have to find a much bigger improvement over the weekend to attain a decent finish. The same went for Bob Fletcher even though he managed a 70, also better than his Round 1 score. Ian McKinley's 70 saw him slide down the leaderboard and now looks unlikely to be challenging for the title, but there's still a lot of golf to be played...

Event 29 - 2000 JOHN DEERE CLASSIC at TPC Deere Run - Round 3
Less wind and faster greens provided the chance to shoot a good score today. Charlie Roberts had a very good back nine to thank for his 68, but he is still languishing at the foot of the leaderboard. Bob Fletcher enjoyed his bogey-free 65, a score which could easily have been lower if he hadn't missed a couple of makeable putts late in his round, but he finished well by chipping in for par on the 18th. Bob's score saw him haul himself up to tied 51st and he will be hoping to maintain today's excellent form. Ian McKinley also fired an impressive 65, his best effort of the event so far, and a score that elevated him into a share of 8th spot. A win still appears unlikely, however, as Ian is still six strokes adrift of the new leader, tour pro Kirk Triplett, who burned up the course in just 62 strokes!!
