You have really captured the feel of a Bay Area course. Lots of similarities to Harding Park, but better! Great job, well done!

Simply stunning!
The lighting, course flow, planting, atmosphere, depth of surroundings and difficulty all spot-on.
That sports complex area was just off the charts!
If I was being ultra critical, it would be the fact that there were only 18 holes.
Probably the finest designer course created in this game, it really is that good.

Really enjoyed your course dude! This one is “sneaky” good! Really enjoyed the realistic feel of this one and the barranca area towards the end of the round was very well done. Loved the bridge work too! Great job and good luck in the comp👍🏻!

Continuing my travels with my Dream Team Contest brochure, my next stop was at Merced Municipal in the Bay area. I had been to the Pacific coast but it was on a sunnier day. Today was a cloudy and hazy day on the West coast so I needed my eye to catch on to some greatness on and outside of the golf course, and that’s just what I got. I had some time before my round to explore and found things I’ve never seen near a golf course (in 2k21). Amenities I was blown away in this category and of the 4 courses I’ve played this has the most care and thought put in. My snooty self was satisfied received high class treatment like this. I parked my car in the enormous parking lot and stopped in the clubhouse to secure my tee time, then took a quick dip in the pool. I ate on the patio observing the flowers and then chucked my garbage out in the dumpster around the corner. If you have the patio, you serve food and if you serve food you need a garbage can or dumpster – it’s the little details that keep me coming back. Walking out beyond the course there were lot of great houses and buildings, baseball fields, tennis courts, a football field. Hit some balls at the driving range. Superb. These things matter when I play a course – I don’t want to feel like I’m just plunked onto a golf course with nothing around because then I feel like I’m playing a video game more, and right now I feel like the context gives me the full 360-degree experience as if I really went to play golf. Excellent!
Hole layout The course plays well and rewards thoughtful shot making and proper choices. The best part is how you got the trees to force me to optimize holes by playing draws and tees or if I missed a fairway, a tree would force a draw/fade. Off the tee, I had various kinds of situations – easy drives and tough drives with driver, some tees had multiple options, and some forced a draw or fade with driver. Same with approaches – a meaningful variety towards greens that played realistically. The par-3’s on the front side were long but not overly punishing and 8 had a great look off the tee. On 9 it was great strategy cause I played a fast and the tree on the inside corner of the dogleg along the cliff knocked my ball down at 250 yds – that was awesome – I was supposed to play a full draw or 3-wood. Then I hit it short of the green with a punch to watch it feed to the green. Great hole.
The back nine had a great narrow par-5 10th, the 11th had a cool blind shot approach. 12 had a fade as the optimal choice off the tee – great strategy throughout. The 13th gave me a Pasatiempo ravine vibe and I appreciate the twist of having the green overlooking the water. Another fantastic hole. These trees are spooky on this dark n’ cloudy day and they seem to be moving closer to each fairway on this back nine – I’m feeling more closed in since they’re so tall – great mental effect. Highlights As I played there was some good hole design and additional amenities to view. Many courses don’t have ball washers so that was a pleasant surprise, clean balls are important, the 3rd hole had some vans parked behind a canvas wall and I could see the tennis courts, baseball field and football field with a track around it. (If you someone reading this wants to play and doesn’t have PC for overheads, check to the right on the 3rd hole for all the goodies. I liked how that hole almost created a blind approach when you hit it down into the valley fairway. The bunkerless 6th hole par-5 must have taken restraint but it’s worth seeing an all-green hole once in a while.
There’s strategy in the angles and surfaces without using a hazard. A bit like how the 2nd hole could have had a bunker where the rough dips down but instead it’s just grass. The 9th was awesome hitting the cliff and then running alongside. Great views of the water and there’s another equipment shed too. Love the giant old looking trees and they really frame the 10th hole well. 11th I started seeing Merced the city itself with houses on a cliff around the water and I really felt like I was at a municipal course at this point. 14 with it’s Pasatiempo style was my favorite hole. 15 and 16 plays by the parking lot. 17 is the best par-3 over the barranca. Wow the planting along the cliff on 18 and the whole hole has a tremendous look to finish the course. More great visuals playing between the clubhouse, parking lot and water. Hit my second shot and it hung on the cliff rough left of the green – scary shot! Finished with a 69 (-2).
Experience An excellent municipal style course that makes me feel like it's a living experience instead of sitting down and putting on a video game to play golf. Maybe the best amenities I've seen around the course. I thought the strategy was excellent, it’s just so much thought put in and perfect execution. The trees provided as much character to the course as anything matching the cloudy day default weather, the bunkers were fine, many holes had subtle details that made them great. Everything was pro – I can’t really think of a negative – you even had a garbage dumpster since you serve food – not many people have thought of that. It’s all common sense and you did a splendid job in creating this environment – well done! I will definitely be back.

This will be course #2 this week for Xbone Alt Shot at around 7:30pmEST. Up for some Mayday punishment although its all good. I may have posted this previously here or somewhere but this course was really a good looking track and really felt real. Could of very well been the enhanced power of the series X making it look better than it was. Anywho....cannot wait to give this a full test drive.

Sorry as it took me a while to get round to playing it but great job, I don't want this to sounds bad but one of my favourite bits was the parking lot - just exquisite! The golf was also highly enjoyable but I just like the extra curricular details when done so well!

Gotta say now I've finished the round, this might be your best work Jeremy, the capture and feel of the environment is next level - it felt like I'd been transported from dreary old England right to the foggy San Francisco bay for 30 minutes. The design and layout is also great but it's the environment that had me intrigued the whole way round, can't even remember aiming my driver because I was too busy looking at the background! The routing could have been horrible but I wouldn't have noticed due to my captivation of the surroundings.
Bravo.

Someone may have mentioned this, but I find it easier to put down my OB stakes and then work the OB shapes to those stakes.

I enjoyed this course a lot. Simple Hole designs done well with subtle strategy are things that I look for in a course and this one has it. Holes 4 and 11 were my favourites. Also like the way you threw in more doglegs then is typical of your courses. Not because I like doglegs in particular, but because they worked well here with it being a tree lined course. Nice job.

This is a fabulous course. Really simple design but a great setting and some amazing holes - 18 is fantastic. I love the bay area course designs but Harding Park isn't so great - if this course was dumped on top of it I probably wouldn't mind too much...
